Dive into Beijing's thousands of years of history on a half-day tour of the city's Capital Museum. You'll also visit Prince Gong's mansion, take a ride through narrow backstreets in a rickshaw and see how modern-day families live by visiting a typical Beijing home. Your half-day tour starts at Beijing's Capital Museum, one of the best places to learn about the history and culture of China's capital city. The museum is divided into two halls, each with six floors of exhibits. You'll learn about ancient Beijing's thousands of years of customs and culture, and see extraordinary collections of historic objects including statues, jade, bronzes and more. Before lunch, you will attend an elegant tea ceremony, where you'll experience the centuries-old cultural tradition and taste local tea varieties. After lunch at a local restaurant you'll visit the magnificent gardens at Prince Gong's mansion, Beijing's largest and best preserved Qing Dynasty royal mansion. Next, you'll take to the streets of old Beijing by rickshaw, also known as a pedicab. You'll get a taste of life in the city as your driver pedals through the old, narrow streets, or hutongs. Your rickshaw tour includes a visit to the home of a Chinese family and a climb to the top of an old drum tower for a bird's-eye view of the area. |
