Bars and clubs in Vienna
Vienna and its surrounding areas are known for producing wine, especially white wine instead of red. Most of the wine is distributed around Austria rather than exported. Tourists can sample newly made wine at licensed bars known as Heurigen.

Schweizerhaus
This huge beer garden is reputed to have the best beer in the city. It also serves excellent traditional Austrian food at a reasonable price, especially its famous Stelze (pork knuckles). Schweizerhaus is at Prater 116.
Flex
Tourists who love the nightlife will adore Flex, probably the best club in Vienna for the under-30 set. It’s a favorite hangout of the artsy, bohemian crowd and of those who love good conversation. Flex is especially crowded during summer as people spill out onto the benches outside the bar. Live bands and hip DJs entertain club goers every night of the week. It’s located at U4 Schottenring, Abgang Augartenbrücke.
Siebensternbräu
Famous for brewing its own excellent beer, Siebensternbräu is located at Siebensterngasse 19. People love drinking at the outdoor garden beneath the old Linden tree.
The American Bar
Located at Kärntner Durchgang 10, 1st District, Innere Stadt, this sophisticated bar lives up to its name and serves some of the best steaks in the city. It’s architecture, designed by Adolf Loos, transports visitors back to Vienna circa 1908 when the bar opened. Drinks are higher priced than at other bars but the ambience is worth it. The bar has a strict dress code and boisterous behavior is banned. It’s usually packed during weekends.
Aux Gazelles
This huge club and disco is the latest hangout of the beautiful people. Its music is eclectic and the couches are very comfortable. Located at Rahlgasse 5, 6th Distrcit, Museumsquartier, Aux Gazelles also has a bar, deli and oriental steam bath. They also have a strict dress code.
