Transport in and around Antwerp
Antwerp has a great location easily accessible via land and airport transportation.
Being on the crossroads to many destinations in Europe, Antwerp is easily reached by car. The city is connected to many cities in the neighbouring countries such as Amsterdam, Breda, Cologne and Paris via ring roads.
Located 15 minutes from Antwerp, Antwerp Airport is a convenient place to arrive for travellers from UK. VLM Airlines has scheduled direct flights from London and Manchester to Antwerp. Once arrived at the airport all you have to do is to take bus line 14 to the Antwerp city centre.
Brussels Airport is the best choice for the flights from other cities. Travelling from Brussels Airport to Antwerp city centre is fast and convenient by bus. Brussels Airport offers direct coach service to Antwerp in every hour, all day round, for EUR 10. You can also take a train from the airport station to Antwerpen Centraal (Antwerp Central). A single ride lasts around one hour and costs EUR 15.20.
With its large station, Antwerpen Centraal, the city allows easy access from/to many destinations as well with its busy international & intercity train traffic.
Once in Antwerp the city welcomes us into a trouble & traffic free pedestrian life in most of the squares and streets. The city can be explored on foot within a few hours yet for those who do not like walking the there is an effective transportation system on offer.
With tickets you can obtain from several points such as newspaper shops, supermarkets, ticket machines, and the stops all around the city for EUR 1.20 – EUR 1.50, you can have several rides within 60 minutes.
