What to see in Brugges

City Hall
The former council chamber of the city, City Hall (built in 1376) is an eye-catching building with spectacular Gothic style features.


Our Lady's Church
Our Lady’s Church with its 122 meters high tower is a magnificent building in Bruges. It is the second highest building in the Low Lands after the Cathedral in Antwerp. The church is among the most tourist-ridden sites in the city not only for its historical and architectural glamour but also for the famous sculpture 'Madonna with Child' Michelangelo and the splendid tombstones of Mary of Burgundy and her father Charles the Bold it houses. Saint-Salvator Cathedral
With a history dates back to the end of the 12th century, Saint-Salvator Cathedral is well worth a visit for the spectacular wall tapestries and paintings it houses.


Basilica of the Holy Blood
Built in 12th century as a church, Basilica of the Holy Blood is a significant place as it houses the relic of holy blood, a vial said to contain a cloth with blood of Jesus Christ which is brought by the Crusaders in 12th and 13th century. (Entrance Fee: € 1.50)


The Belfry Tower (Belfort)
One of the symbols of the city, this 83 meter high tower was built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Located on the Market Square the tower offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city on the top.


Groeninge Museum
Groeninge Museum has a rich and interesting collection of Flemish, Belgian and Dutch art works. (Entrance Fee: € 8)


Godshuizen “God Houses”
Built by rich families, corporations or guilds in 14th century “God Houses” were built for poor widows and widowers as well as for the former members of guilds who lost their goods for several reasons. All built in the same style, these houses attract many tourist while in Bruges.


The Minnewater
Minnewater Lake with its beautiful park is an ideal spot to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of Bruges. Taking its name from the Dutch word “Minne” meaning “love” this peaceful “Lake of Love” invites you to relaxing moments surrounded by greenery and beautiful swans walking on the lawns.
