Biggest events in Brussels

As a center for beer-making, Brussels knows how to celebrate in great style, and there's always an abundance of their favorite golden brew.

The following are some of the biggest events and festivals in Brussels every year.

Ommegang
Held in July, the Ommegang is the city’s most festive annual event. This medieval pageant commemorates Charles V’s entry into Brussels in 1549. A colorful procession with participants dressed in period costumes culminates at the brightly lit Grand Place.

Brussels Jazz Marathon
At end-May, this jazzfest features some of the best jazz musicians from Europe, the USA and the rest of the world performing in various venues throughout the city.

Couleur Café Festival
The Couleur Café’s celebration of cultural diversity is the big social event of June. People from different cultures come together to exchange ideas, exhibit their heritage and share their music. The festival venue is easy to find. Simply follow the sound of the African beats that fill the air.

Belgium National Day
On July 21, Brussels celebrates Belgium National Day with a parade and open-air concert at the central square. It seems like everyone comes out to enjoy the merry-making in the streets on this official holiday.

Summer Concerts
During summer, the most popular venues in Brussels host a series of free open-air concerts every night. These include the Grand Place, the Sablon and the Place Ste Catherine.
