Nyhavn for nightlife
Nyhavn, the main tourist quarter, is a haven of cafes, bars and restaurants. Nørrebro features many bars and clubs. Other places for a night of fun and partying are Vesterbro, Frederiksberg and Christianshavn.
Some of the city’s best nightclubs are located at Gothersgade and Rådhuspladsen, the main city square. Clubs have a minimum age requirement: 18 years old, Wednesday to Friday; 20 years old, Saturday. Most bars and clubs operate until 5 a.m. but are usually half-empty by 2 a.m. except on weekends. Entrance costs around DKK 40-80.
Among the most popular bars and clubs in Copenhagen are the following:
Zoo
Located at Kronprinsensgade 7, Zoo is probably the hippest bar in the city. It’s relatively small compared to other places but that doesn’t deter the crowd from coming. Weekends are especially crowded.
Aura
This bar is one of the proponents of a new concept in Copenhagen’s night life: the hybrid bar. They offer the ambience of a restaurant, club and bar all rolled into one. The mood changes dramatically as the night moves along. By midnight, it’s all about drinking and dancing. Located at Radhusstraede 4, 1411 Copenhagen, Aura offers a unique experience.
The Moose
The perfect place to start the night, The Moose has Happy Hour prices that attract people in droves. Located at Sværtegade 5, The Moose may be small but it’s packed to the rafters on Thursdays and Saturdays. Two pints of beer is only DKK 32.
Vega
Located at Enghavevej 40, Vega is one of the city’s oldest and biggest night clubs. It has impressive interiors and two different floors dedicated to house music and R&B, respectively. It opens at 11 p.m.
Club Celcius
The new favorite hangout of the beautiful crowd, this is where you can get to meet a fashion model. Unfortunately, drinks are expensive and a strict dress code is enforced. It’s located on the main city square at Rådhuspladsen 16.
