Beaches
Hong Kong has a magnificent seaside and excellent beaches that can take your breath away. With over 200 islands, Hong Kong has more than enough beaches to give any tourist his fill.
Stanley Beach
A developed village at Hong Kong Island’s south side, Stanley features a host of bars and restaurants on its waterfront. Stanley has all the trappings of what a tourist-oriented seaside village should be. There are two beaches here: Stanley Main Beach and St Stephen’s beach.
Shek O
Shek O beach on Hong Kong Island boasts of the best surfing in Hong Kong at Big Wave Bay. It’s located on Shek O Island, a relaxing venue with a laid back pace that many corporate executives favor as a refreshing hideaway. The water here is excellent.
Silvermine Bay Beach
Tranquil, serene and with less people than Hong Kong Island, Silvermine Bay Beach is the ideal option for families with kids. The beaches are clean and most restaurants and bars are family-oriented.
Deepwater Bay Beach
Close to Central, Deepwater Bay Beach is the number one beach in Hong Kong, although many critics have lamented the quality of its water.
Sai Kung Beach
Located at the New Territories, Sai Kung is further than most beaches but it has a host of daytime activities that will make the trip worth it. Visitors can learn windsurfing, kayaking and other water sports or hitch a ride with the Sai Kung sail club. Plus, the beach hosts a number of gourmet restaurants
Shopping
Naturally, no Hong Kong tourist guide would be complete without praise for Hong Kong shopping. Simply put, it is a shopper’s paradise. There’s a wide array of goods on display at very low prices. There are so many shops, malls, markets and thrift shops that you won’t know where to begin. The best place to start your shopping exploration of Hong Kong should be Causeway Bay. It features some of the best shops and malls in the city. Tourists may also want to explore swanky Pacific Place, the buzzing Times Square, the massive Harbor City and the high-end Landmark.
Skyscrapers
Foreign tourists who rarely see skyscrapers are usually in awe of Hong Kong Central. It’s a maze of sky-high monuments to capitalism.
