Grand Rome

Rome is a breathtaking city and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.

Once the center of Western civilization, Rome’s grand architecture transports tourists back to those royal times when the city influenced nearly half the world and was known by such revered nicknames as the Eternal City, Capital of the World and Threshold of the Apostles.

Today, Rome is known for La Dolce Vita, the Colosseum and the Vatican City. It’s an ultra-modern city that attracts tourists in droves, making it currently the third most-visited tourist destination in the EU.

Rome provides the kind of excitement that no other city can match. For instance, where else can you feel the thrill of centuries of world dominance and turbulence beneath your feet while being surrounded by ancient Renaissance and Baroque architecture?

Rome is one of a handful of major European cities that were spared from significant damage during World War II. As such, central Rome reminds many of a bygone era. The so-called Historic Center of Rome has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Meanwhile, the nights are alive in Rome with a different type of excitement. The city is a world-class shopping and party venue, with many outstanding bars and clubs.

According to legend, the mythical twins raised by a wolf, Romulus and Remus, were the founders of Rome. Located at the River Tiber, Rome is currently the seat of the Italian government. The metropolitan area is home to around 3.3 million people.
