Venice nightlife

Venice has a vibrant nightlife, especially on weekends. Unfortunately, most bars and pubs are closed mid-week so it’s best to plan ahead where to spend the night lest you spend hours wandering about aimlessly. The two best party places in Venice are Campo Santa Margherita and Erbaria, West of the Rialto Bridge.

Venetians love to order a Spritz while dining on cicheti, and every bar in the city serves them. Another popular drink here is the Veneto Grappa, but be careful of this one. It has a high alcohol content.

The following are some of the most popular bars, pubs and clubs in Venice.

Margaret Duchamp
Located at Campo Santa Margherita, this chillout bar attracts hip youngsters and thirtysomethings, especially the type who like to party wearing their shades. Everyone here seems to be drinking a spritz. The place is packed after midnight, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pub Taverna L'Olandese Volante
This is hands-down the best pub in Venice and a favorite haunt of tourists and the expatriate community. It’s also one of the city’s most popular spots during summer, when tables are placed outside and guests can enjoy their drinks as they watch the world walk by. Their pasta is delicious. Surprisingly, their food is reasonably priced. Pub Taverna L'Olandese Volante is located at Campo San Lio, Castello 5856.

Orange
The entire place is decorated in the color of an Aperol spritz, which is, you guessed it, colored orange. There’s a nattily dressed crowd of fashionistas here every night, talking animatedly and watching their images on the sheet-glass windows. Guests may also enjoy their drinks at the relaxing garden in the back or at the ringside terrace on the second floor. Orange is located at Campo Santa Margherita.

Harry's Bar
The famous Harry’s Bar has hosted many celebrities, including Orson Welles, Truman Capote and Ernest Hemingway. Many of Italy’s modern celebrities can regularly be seen here as well. There’s a Venetian saying that everyone who visits Venice eventually ends up at Harry’s Bar. And why not? Their food is terrific and the cocktails are superb. Harry’s Bar is located at Calle Vallaresso, San Marco 1323
