Mellieha bay and its beach
Mellieha bay in Malta is one of the few bays that offers a sandy beach. Melieha bay is great for families because the Sweetpea or Popeye Village is within walking distance of Mellieha bay. If you dont fancy the walk then there are regular mini buses that run regularly to the Popeye village. The ride only takes about 5 minutes.
Apart from the sandy beach with its shallow waters, there are also daily boat trips on offer and plenty of little snack bars run along the beach. Sun beds are available as are water sports. Please do remember that Malta is a strict Catholic country and topless sunbathing is frowned upon and there are notices on the beach asking you not to go topless.
Daily buses run from Mellieha bay to the capital Valetta and also to other resorts such as Buggiba so you can easily get a change of scenery.
Night life in Mellieha bay is pretty laid back but you have a good choice of restaurants that line the road from the bay to the top of the hill. Most of these can gbet quite lively in the evenings and have a good atmosphere.....Enjoy Mellieha bay
