Traveling In/Around Eindhoven
Traveling in and around Eindhoven is easy and very convenient. From the city center, Eindhoven airport can easily be reached in 15 minutes through A2 motorway. There is a scheduled bus line (Bus No. 401) connecting the airport to the city center in about 25 minutes in an effective way. (Costs: EUR 2.40)
Eindhoven has a large train station which connects the city to the other cities in the country, as well as to the cities in neighboring countries. If you are in Eindhoven for a long time, and want to see the other Dutch cities as well, the most convenient and economic way to do this is to take a train from the Eindhoven Central Station. Trains to the major cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht run frequently from the central station day and night. A single ride to Amsterdam Central Station (Amsterdam Centraal) from Eindhoven takes 1h 20 min. and costs EUR 17.40 while a ride to Rotterdam takes 1 h 10 min. costing EUR 16.00. Eindhoven has a very well working public transportation (bus) network which makes traveling within the city very convenient. Tickets can be obtained from the driver yet the cheapest way to use public transportation is to buy national “Strippenkaart”. You can get one of those cards from bookstores, kiosks and major supermarkets.
Eindhoven is not a huge city. You can see nearly all of the major sites in the city within a two hour walking. One of the best ways to explore the city is to hire a bike. You can hire a bike from several places in the city. (Costs EUR 6 - EUR 10 for 24 hours)
You can also take one of the city tours organized by the tourist information center which costs EUR 1.50.
