Trondheim: The old and the new
Trondheim is a great city for shopping: enclosed by the river Nid, it has a small and intimate city centre, yet it offers a wide selection of shops – anything from trendy designer shops to the larger department stores. If you walk across the pedestrian bridge “Verftsbrua”, you enter the Solsiden area, Trondheim’s most modern part of town. Here, you find a large shopping mall, several cafés and restaurants, as well as many exciting niche shops. If you walk across “Gamle Bybro” (the old town bridge) instead, you’ll be presented to the lively neighbourhood Bakklandet, where the old wooden houses contain everything from cafés and art galleries to antique shops or local designers selling their collections.
