Lausanne. A great destination

Lausanne sits alongside Lake Geneva and with this in mind, its well worth heading for the port area of Geneva which is known as Ouchy and from here taking a boat trip to Evian which is famous the world over for its Spring water.

Take a step back in time and visit the very well preserved castle of Chillon. You can really imagine what it must have been like to live in this castle in medieval times from the great banqueting halls to the dungeons.

Chillon castle also has its own vineyards. The wine has a distinctive taste and any profits from wine sold go towards the restoration of the castle.

You may be surprised to lean that lausanne has a man made beach which is called Bellerive plague. There is also a swimming pool here and plenty of wet and wild activities. On a sunny day this is a great spot to be.

For a taste of the local food and you can’t leave Lausanne or indeed Switzerland without tasting the delicious Cheese fondue, head for the famous Brassiere, Café Romand at Place St-François 2. It’s right in the city centre and serves the best of local dishes.

If you have a sweet tooth then you won’t want to miss the chain of Fleur de pains. The patisseries are dotted all round town and you will find a mouth watering selection of croissants, deserts and pastries.

If you plan on visiting Lausanne then its worth brushing up on your French and if you love to wear high heels...Best leave them at home and invest in apair of walking shoes as most of the old town of Lausanne is cobbled and very hilly.
