Chappel Bridge & Wassertrum
Chappel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), known as one of Switzerland's main touristic attractions, is the oldest wooden bridge in Europe. The bridge was built in 1333, with the aim to prevent attacks to Lucerne. The inside of the bridge is covered with paintings from the 17th century, depicting Lucerne's history.
Wasserturm (Water Tower) is an octagonal brick tower adjoining the bridge, which was used for many purposes such as watchtower prison, torture chamber, and treasury .
Chappel Bridge and Water Tower are today famous for being the monuments that are most photographed in Switzerland.
