Getting to Lucerne

While the city of Lucerne itself does not have an airport this is not a problem because Zurich International Airport is just 42 miles away and travelling to and from Zurich airport to any part of Switzerland is very easy thanks to the comprehensive transport options on hand.

Probably the easiest and quickest way to get to Lucerne from Zurich International is by train. The journey will take less than 50 minutes and the trains are comfortable and frequent and also have a buffet car.

Once you arrive at Lucerne station you will be amazed at how easy they have made it to continue your journey. It’s a huge station and very well thought out and caters for overseas visitors very well.

The station itself was re-built in 1991 and it extremely central at only a ten minute walk to the old town.

If you need to store any baggage then there are chargeable storage lockers on platforms 3 and 14.

Within the train station complex you will also find wash rooms, restaurants and a couple of grocery stores.

If you have a lot of baggage with you, then the bus station is directly outside the station, otherwise the tourist attractions are within easy walking distance of no more than 15 minutes
