Dubai for shopaholics
Dubai is a modern city that attracts an increasing number of visitors every year. Dubai works hard to attract new visitors and even harder to keep its regular visitors coming back for more. It’s a great place to take a winter sunshine break.
The only criticism that Dubai takes these days is that there is too much building work being carried out but this is expected to finish within the next year.
Visitors to Dubai will probably stay in Bur Dubai, Jumeirah or Deira.
Jumeirah beach is where you will find the world famous Burj Al Arab hotel and the more recently opened Mercato themed shopping mall where you will find everything and more under one roof! The prices are set so there is no haggling. Also remember that the restaurants in the mall are unlicensed but do serve some pretty special fruit cocktails.
Within the same area you will find the Jumeirah complex which is home to two 5* hotels, a shopping centre and residential areas.
Yet another shopping mall, and this one is enormous, is called the Mall of the Emirates, affectionately known as MOE's the complex houses a 14 screen cinema, the first indoor ski slope in the Middle east, 65 restaurants. Oh and shops……As you can see Dubai is heaven for shopaholics.
Apart from the modern shopping malls, don’t forget the souks and in particular the gold souk. You will need to be prepared to haggle in the Souks. It may seem strange at first but you will soon get the hang of it and haggling will become part of your regular shopping routine, though it's not a routine to be tried at home!
