Travelling in Birmingham
Birmingham, thanks to its geographical location literally in the middle of England, can easily be reached both by land and air transportation. Travelling from the airport to the city centre is very convenient.
One of the easiest ways to get to the city centre from the airport is using railway transportation. All you have to do is to take the free Air-Rail Link service from the airport to the airport train station, “Birmingham International”. The service will take you to the station in about 2 minutes. From there, there are frequent trains to Birmingham City Centre (Birmingham New Street Station). The ride lasts about 15 minutes and costs 3 GBP. The buses number 38 (Stand H) 58 & 900 (Stand K) from the airport directly go to Birmingham City Centre. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. Please note that buses number 38 (in every 60 minutes) and 58 (in every 30 minutes) are “day only” services. Bus number 900 runs during the day and also in the evenings in every 30 minutes.
Hiring a taxi is another option to get to the centre. You can hire a “Black Cab” from outside of Passenger Terminals. A single taxi ride to the centre costs around 16 GBP.
Travelling within Birmingham is easy thanks to the well working public transportation network. The centre is linked to the other parts of the city via train and metro lines. The cheapest way of transportation in Birmingham is to get a “day pass”. A day ticket that covers all rides within zones 1-5 costs 6.00 GBP.
