Our first stop in South America takes us to Brazil and the city of Rio de Janeiro where we can experience the famous Brazilian carnival which really is the greatest spectacle in the world. The carnival is held in Rio de Janeiro ever year 4 days before Ash Wednesday.
If you want to test your nerves we should go to Bolivia and the capital city of La Paz. La Paz is the cultural centre of Bolivia but it is from here that we will join the winding mountain road from Coroico to Caranavi. It really is a test of nerves if not exciting and is known as the world’s most dangerous road or death road!
From Bolivia we head to Chile and the capital city of Santiago where we get to see the famous Andes from a distance but a day trip takes us to the Andes and where the Inca Empire originated in the 1400’s. If you want to see the famous Lost city of the Incas "Machu Picchu" which is undoubtedly the most famous symbol of the Inca Empire you will need to cross from Chile into Peru.
Our last stop is to dance the Tango and so we jet to Argentina and its capital city Buenos Aires where the Tango originated. To see the Tango danced for free head for San Telmo and the attractive district of La Boca. To get a real taste of the tango we should head to the Viejo Almacen club. The greatest performers have all appeared here and as well as nightly shows there is also a restaurant and opportunity to buy merchandise. Tango day is celebrated in Buenos Aires on the 11th December.
