"A great find at a great price in the Barrio Santa Cruz"
I stumbled upon this hotel late at night while exploring the Barrio and was greatly imperssed by the tall colorful courtyard style lobby surrounded with overlooking balconies. Inquiring about availablity, I was quoted a rate of 50euro/night. (This proved to be less that half what other 3* hotels in the vicinity were asking--I checked. But I was later told I got a last minute rate... a little travel tip here? ) The next morning I returned and was given a choice of rooms and selected one facing the street which had a little shuttered window overlooking the lobby. The room was large with a balcony and two large comfortable beds and reddish cozy wall coverings and curtains on the balcony window. The street below was very quiet at night. Althought the clean marble bathroom was a bit tight, the louvered door did not present the problem alluded to in another review, since I was a lone traveller. Breakfast was included and I found it to be a quite adequate euro style buffet with juice, coffee, cereals, yoghout, breads, pastries, cold cuts and chese etc. I ate at a little marble top table in the lobby over a newspaper. (Breakfast buffets do not seem to be the norm in Spainish hotels, and sometimes there is an additional charge, such as the 5 euros at the Alacantra where I stayed prior to the Albianco. So this could be considered a further discount in the rate. ) That other review also mentioned that the hotel is not really accessible by automoble. True, but neither is any hotel in the old 12th Century Barrio Sta. Cruz. The hotel also has a very reasonably priced room service menu and I purchased a bottle of wine for 8 euro for a nightcap. As to the location, the hotel is on a main artery of the Sta.Cruz, Aquila, a block or two off the Pla. Alfalfa, a lively spot dotted with some nice eateries, including a coal oven pizzaria and a sparkling ice cream and pastry parlor. A tapas bar featuring some of the best seafood in Sevilla lays midway between there and the hotel. Several blocks down Aquila the other way, past the Pla Pilates, is a cozy little dark oak wooded bar on a corner , serving excellent vino tinto and tasty tapas, wine racks stacked high above in an unpretentious atmosphere that would do Heminway proud. Sevilla's exclusive shopping district lays just beyond the Pla. Alfalfa. All in all, my stay at the Abianco proved to be the high point of my Andulusian holiday. I wouldn't hesitate to return there in a future trip.

"Good"
We stayed in this hotel from the 11th till the 16th of December 2005. After reading the bad comments we had no expectations what so ever. We did make sure that we had a room off the street so we didn't have any noise at night. The beds were very good. Breakfast was simple but good. We had good toasted bread; croissants; cake; cornflakes, all typical Spanish. You mustn't expect more because this is a typical Spanish hotel. Coffee was good! Also the orange juice and the tea. Friendly personnel. The room was rather cold but we got an electronic heater. Conclusion: ask for a room off the streat. And for the breakfast: try to imagine that you are a Spaniard!! We found this a good, typical hotel.

"Authentically Spanish"
We stayed at the Abanico at the beginning of June. We'd asked for rooms off the street, and the hotel had accommodated. The staff were very helpful. Beautiful lobby and atrium, attention to detail, incredible tiles on the staircases. We had the breakfast every day, good coffee, perfectly adequate and weren't hurried along at all. Hot drinks were available free all day. The rooms were fine - clean, air conditioned and a decent sized bathroom. The hotel is central and it's very easy to walk everywhere. The only downside - a roach did come up the plughole in the bathroom, but maybe that's authentically Spanish?!
