If you will be travelling with children, the Abba Garden Hotel is close to a number of parks and open spaces and also has its own childrens play area in the garden. |

Relaxing location after a day in the crowded city center
The hotel was very nice and comfortable. The large terrace was fine and the not so crowded pool was nice after a sweaty walk up to the hotel from the nearest metro station. That is actually one of the weak spots of this hotel, it's quite far (by foot) from anything but a large hospital. There seemed to be a small caféteria/shop some 50 m away but it was qlosed during most of August because of the holiday season. We did not dine at the hotel (we never do) so I can't comment on that, but the breakfast buffé was good and did not leave anything to desire. Great views over Barcelona is available on the upper floors on the northern side of the hotel. The closest way to the Zona Universitaria metro station is through the closeby park. However, the park is not open during nights. The neighborhood seemed nice. Very nice hotel with friendly and mostly helpful staff. |

"Fabulous place and great hotel"
Me and Sister booked four nights at the Abba Garden to celebrate Mums 50th birthday and we were not dissapointed. We were concerned that the location of the hotel would be problematic, but it was a welcome relief in the middle of July to go back to a lovely, clean and cool hotel with pool, sunbathing and spa areas for a late afternoon siesta and refresh after a morning of sightseeing and over indulgent lunches.
Abba provide a bus to Zona Universitat metro stop, or take a walk through the gardens as we did, which are very pleasant, quicker and not as steep as the roads. Taxis are very cheap and reception will book them for you very quickly to the tube station if necessary, we enjoyed the walk and the thought of a quick dip in the pool after was a good way to work off the lunches. Metro is quick and simple to use (3 day passes good value for money 13E), be prepared though sometimes for a wait though at the end of the evening for taxi home.
Excellent tapas and restaurants in Eixample, try Tragaluz couple of blocks up on the left from Passeig de Gracia tube. Barcelona itself is just fantastic, would highly recommend the hotel and the city and we hope to return in the future.

"Lovely, relaxing place to stay !"
Sorry for the late review, forgot all about it until booking another holiday. Stayed here for three nights in September 04. The Hotel is fanatastic, with unbelievable views over the city. The only thing i can pick at is the restaurant does'nt have much choice, hence we ate elsewhere. Although staff were more than happy to recommend places to eat. The room was everything you expect from a 4 star, and it was a nice place to relax, away from the bustle of the city. The Metro is nothing more than a 5-10 min walk through a lovely park, and the line takes you right to La Ramblas which cost around 3 Euro's return. Again at night catching a taxi back from La Ramblas cost between 10-14 Euro's. I found it best to take a map with me and point to the taxi driver where i wanted to go, as my Spanish is zilch. To me it was better being away from the crowds in the and would recommend this hotel to anyone. I'm for one will definately be using this hotel if ever i return.

I stayed at the Abba Gardens Hotel in Barcelona and would like to say that I had the most beautiful time of my life staying there. It was soo nice and pieceful there, I would recommend everyone to go and stay at Abba Garden hotel. The Shuttle Service is also very good. I had such a good time that I am now planning to book my holiday to barcelona again and stay at Abba Garden hotel once again.

"Great Hotel"
Stayed 4 days in a deluxe room with a large, private terrace with a great view of the city and Med Sea. Staff speaks English and food is great. Priced right, friendly. 5 minute bus ride to downtown for great shopping. The bed was a bit firm, but the decor was great and the entire hotel was very clean. We would stay there again for sure!

"An all round excellent stay"
Hotel Abba Gardens is a relatively new hotel situated roughly 15 minutes from Barcelona airport by taxi (approx 20-25 euros). The hotel itself is modern and functional appealing to both business users and families/couples etc. The rooms are very spacious, each with their own seperate corridors (once inside the main door) to increase one's privacy. The bathroom is well laid out with plenty of surface space for all your belongings. Some rooms come with their own small balconies which offer a nice view out onto the pool area.
The pool itself is a good size and ideal for swimming lengths or simply just for children to play in. If you are thinking about doing a lot of swimming, I would definitely recommend bringing goggles as there was a lot of chlorine in the water. There were always plenty of sun loungers available and it never felt too crowded.
The pool bar/restaurant was a bit disappointing and the standard of food and promptness of service was not great. I did not think that the selection of food was good value for money, and for that reason alone, ate out a lot or brought lunch back to the hotel.
Apart from this however, there were many other excellent aspects to this hotel. The attitude and friendliness of the staff was excellent and they all spoke a good level of English. The hotel also offers a free minibus service into the nearest town shopping district on Avenida Diaganol which can save you 5 euros. If you want to go into the main centre of Barcelona i.e Las Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya, the hotel will organise a taxi for you which costs roughly 10-12 euros one way.
One piece of advice when getting a taxi back to the hotel - Tell the taxi driver it is near "Hospital de San Joan de deu." As it is a relatively new hotel, a lot of taxi drivers hadn't heard of it.
Overall I felt like I was really on holiday when I stayed at Abba Gardens. It was slightly out of the all hussle and bussle which was nice and relaxing, and yet only a quick taxi ride in for all those shopping trips and much awaited nights out.
My friends and I are already planning our next visit back.
