"Surprise in Arezzo"
We have just returned from 15 days in Italy. In planning our trip we knew that we don't deal well with jet lag. We wanted to rent a car in Rome and drive to a town where we could rest up while seeing eastern Tuscany. Our criteria were simple--easy access and plentiful parking. We chose Arezzo, and stayed at the Hotel AC.
First let me warn you, this hotel might as well be located at a conference center in Omaha. It isn't quaint; it isn't even very Italian. But it is welcoming. The rooms are comfortable, well lit and well furnished. The facility is impeccably clean. But the thing that makes it stand out is the attitude. You are guests not customers. Each room has a minibar stocked with mineral water and fruit juice. It's free. If your minibar is running low, each floor as a refrigerator filled with more. There is also a bowl of fruit. If you are hungry at a time when the restaurant isn't open, go to the lobby where snacks are provided. There is even an area with Scotch, Vodka, Gin and Rum if you want to mix yourself a drink. You are a guest; it's free.
The staff is young, professional and helpful. Their friendliness was an added bonus. I would recommend the Hotel AC Arezzo.
