"Great Central Location!"
A friend and I shared a twin room here in October 2006. We thought the hotel was easy to find, it's located near to Syntagma Square where you can easily get buses, trams and trains. All the sights are within easy walking distance. We didn't find the location to be at all noisy as the hotel was located off a side street.
I'd say the hotel offers fairly basic but comfortable accommodation. The shower door was broken, but the shower itself was not so we managed ok! I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and bathroom - and I'm hard to please. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was a disappointment as I don't like to face the public on a morning til I've had my cup of tea :-)
Breakfast was a self selection of DIY toast, jams, bread, scrambled eggs, hot dog type sausages, ham, cheese, fruit, cereal, fruit juices and tea/coffee. The lady in charge of breakfast was a bit ferocious if you made a bit of a mess - watch out for her!!
All in all, I'd recommend it, after all there are so many things to see in Athens, you'll spend hardly any time in your room anyway, so we found it value for money.

"Good choice & location"
I have taken school groups to Europe for years, and seen a wide variety of hotels. The Achilleas is an excellent budget choice for central Athens.Located just off Syntagma Square,it provides an easy walk to all of the historic center of the city.It has had an interior makeover & update that make it very cozy.Breakfast is fair.Staff helpful.Rooms are good, and large by Euro standards.Obviously, the location is prime.

"Perfect Location"
This was our 4th trip to Athens. I really liked this hotel and the location. On another trip, we stayed in a hotel recommended in some travel books that was dirty with spit wads on the ceiling. Another one in the Kolanaki that was fine, but the location was not as convenient and another out towards the old airport. The location here was perfect for walking to Monastraki and the Plaka. We were a family of 4, so we had a family room, which actually consisted of 2 rooms and a bathroom. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. The AC worked. The view out of our windows was of a building across the street, but we had plenty of space and it was quiet. We could easily return after a long day of sight seeing, rest and just walk out and find a good restaurant in the Plaka or Monastraki for dinner. I would definitely stay here again. From our experience it is difficult to find a really charming hotel in Athens. I always look at the charm factor before the amenities factor in other locations, but I couldn't find a charming hotel with a garden or filled with antiques at a reasonable price with availability. If you are not looking for that, I would recommend this hotel. Boy, that sounds snotty. It is a very nice hotel and I do not hesitate to recommend it.
