"A great choice for a Bologna stay"
We were very impressed by this hotel and would definitely recommend it. The hotel is in an excellent location just around the corner from the historical centre and the main square.
Our room was fresh and clean and of a good size with a roomy, modern and efficient bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and there were nice little touches like chocolates left by the bedside each day - including, on Good Friday, a little bag of chocolate eggs with Happy Easter attached - and also a card with the next day's weather predictions. All towels were changed every day and there were plenty of the usual complimentary toiletries etc. As mentioned in a previous review the safe was a generous size and very simple to work.
Breakfast was plentiful to say the least. There were fruit salads, cereals, croissants, fruit juices etc. but also pastries and confectionaries! The coffee was very good and all served by a friendly and smiling staff.
The staff at the desk couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble whether it was providing real glasses for drinks in the bedroom, booking restaurants or taxis, printing out train and bus timetables or very patiently giving us directions. Another advantage for us was that they spoke very good English.
The only down side to our stay was that our room (no. 209) was situated above a side street opposite the entrance to the Hotel Roma garage. This wasn't a problem until around 5am when it seemed to come to life for some reason. Although of not much concern to me it was to my companion who is a light sleeper. It seems there are two choices - either you close the window and listen to the rather noisy (for some) airconditioning or, you endure the dawn chorus of the Hotel Roma garage opposite!

"Great location"
We found this hotel to be everything we expected. The location was a delight. It's very quiet and only about 2 minutes away from the main piazza. The rooms were very modern and clean. The staff were professional and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel to those who prefer a small, modern, boutique hotel.

"Great Hotel, would stay here again!"
We flew into Bologna and stayed at the Al Cappello Rosso while we were adjusting to the 9 hour time difference from LA. The room was quiet, and dark (which we appreciated since we were sleeping into the afternoon). It is located within walking distance to historic sites in Bologna, as well as to shopping. The staff was friendly and helpful. The air-conditioning worked great. I would highly recommend this hotel!
