"Al Raha - a fantastic hotel"
We have just returned from a 2 week trip to the UAE - we were based in Duba with family, however were fortunate enough to spend 3 nights at the Al Raha Beach Hotel. Previous reviews did not rate the hotel as 5* - it definitely was in our estimations (and we are regular travellers). The hotel was superb, from the moment we arrived and were greated with a welcome drink, to being shown to our room (which was huge), and were then delivered a platter of fruit with compliments of the hotel. We stayed in a Deluxe room, which had everything you could possibly want, including scene lighting. The bathroom did not disappoint, with a huge shower and separate corner bath. It was fantastic. The setting of the hotel (which was around 20 minutes outside of Abu Dhabi) was beautiful and the pool area was likewise. Breakfasts in the hotel were exceptionally good, with every taste catered for, including all dietery requirements. We ate in the hotel twice, and both times found not only the food, but also the friendliness and 'attention to detail' of the staff to be exemplary. It was a fantastic place to unwind from the hussle and bussle of Dubai, and perfect for a short stay break. We would definitely recommend the Al Raha Beach Hotel, and will be revisiting in the future.

"Excellent"
We were here for the Christmas holidays and I must say that we had a lovely time here. Overall the staff and management were really making an effort. True, there is only one restaurant and if you don't like buffets, the a la carte choice is rather limited. As we were travelling with young children, we did not mind so much. However, I must say that the food was really excellent. The chefs were very considerate and very much willing to accommodate all our wishes. The rooms and bathrooms were large. The interior decoration is indeed rather conservative, but bear in mind that this is the Middle East and not trendy Asia. Apart from The Chedi in Oman, most hotels in the region do not excel in innovative decoration. The same goes for service. In Asia service in top hotels is generally flawless. Service here is not flawless, but they are really trying their utmost and mostly succeeding very well. We paid a visit to the Emirates Palace hotel and I was glad that we did not choose to stay there. It had the look and feel of a huge mausoleum and the decoration was quite traditional as well. Overall a very pleasant stay and it takes only about 20 minutes in a very reasonably priced taxi to reach Abu Dhabi city with a fair choice of restaurants and nightlife.

"Excellent"
We stayed at the Al Raha over Christmas. Its a small hotel but has some lovely beaches. The staff are not perfect but try very hard to serve and please you as do the management. It has one restaurant , the chefs can't do enough, they will make something for you specially if you don't like anything on the menu or buffet we had to do this many a time for kids. The hotel has two Infinity pools, one with a swim up bar and childrens pools. The hotel has two beaches one right behind the hotel and the other to the left of the hotel which we found better and quieter. The hotel is a little far from the city about 20mins but it runs a shuttle bus at selected times throught the day back and forth. It has one bar inside the hotel, children are not allowed though. The hotel has squash courts and a indoor aquatic jet pool it was closed for maintence while we stayed. Overall the hotel is very good I would well recommend it.
