"Quiet, relaxing, gracious"
We stayed at the Alassio Palm Cove Apartments for a week in June and had a wonderful time. First of all, it is at the quieter end of the beach. The majority of Palm Cove traffic enters at the south side of the Esplanade, passing the rest of the resorts before ending near Alassio. The noisier, livelier, albeit elegant restaurants are also south of Alassio. (However given that most restaurants are within walking distance, this means a mere 15-20 minute stroll to and from dinner.) More impressive, however, were our hosts, Terrie and Ian. They were always helpful, cheerful, and available when we needed them. They arranged last minute trips and rentals, always negotiating deals for us, and even helped with a medical problem we experienced. Whereas when I poked my head into another resort to inquire about services and was received in a tired fashion, our hosts were always cheerful and inviting. They also offered candid advice as to restaurants and other recommendations. And when they did not know, they let us know and called around to find an answer.

"Excellent beach-front location!"
This was a brilliant place to stay in the Cairns area!
This is a set of self-catering apartments, and they are great! We found them to be very clean and well-equipped. It would have been easy to cook for ourselves each night, but there were so many restaurants on the doorstep that we went out all of the time. We had a hot-tub on the balcony of our apartment, overlooking the pool, which was a fantastic idea. The pool was nice.
The bathroom was spacious and the shower was good. In the bedroom there were in-built wardrobes, and the bed was big and comfortable.
The couple who run the place are very friendly and helpful.
The apartments are at the end of the road that runs down the beach-front in Palm Cove so it was also quiet - but not too quiet! There were regular, cheap, buses into Cairns and it was easy to hire a car if you wanted to.
Overall, a very good place to stay and they really looked after you once you got there! They didn't have an online booking procedure, so we had to telephone Australia with credit card details to secure the booking - but I didn't mind doing that.

"Heated Spa - Wins Everytime!!"
I stayed with 3 ladies for a girls weekend in 2 bedroom oceanview apartment. Love the heated spa on the balcony - best thing ever!!!! The unit was actually a 1 bedroom apartment with open kitchen, lounge and dining area, bathroom with shower with heated spa on balcony and a 1 bedroom hotel room with huge double spa bath and small balcony. Perfect for 2 couples. We also looked at 3 bedroom units and plan taking our hubbies back for another weekend - same again 3 separate apartments that can be made into one! Staff live on site and are very helpful - no lifts but the man about town assisted us to carry our luggage (and wine) up to the top floor. Only 3 storeys high with underground car park. Also laundry is on site. I would describe this more as a boutique "hotel" and you really don't need to have oceanview as the all the other units overlook the pool and gardens. Location is at the northern end of the esplanade at Palm Cove opposite the jetty. It means you get to stroll past all the restaurants, shops and hotels - can be dangerous on the wallet or purse strings! Highly recommended!
