"Great Location"
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in May 2007. It is in a great location right off San Marco square adjacent to where the gondolas park overnight. It's entertaining to watch the gondolas get ready while eating breakfast (the buffet is very good!). Rooms are clean but very small as are the bathrooms. My 6'1" husband felt claustrophobic in the shower.

"Shelter in the Storm...."
We stayed at this property for two nights culminating a 15 day trip to Italy. Arriving abut 11:30PM after a miserable 12 hours on a train with multiple delays etc, we struggled with our luggage to find a water bus taxi to the deserted St. Marcos (Mark's) Square arriving in a torrential downpour. Consequently by the time we found our way to the hotel, we were exhausted, wet, starved and somewhat apprehensive.
This hotel exceeded our expectations from the beginning of our stay to the end especially after having heard about some of the problems with hotels in Venice. Other than the high rates (euro exchange & general cost of Venice) we cannot complain.
We found the room small but cmfortable & adequate... and quickly raided the snack basket and stocked bar while changing into dry clothes to search for a restaurant. We soon discovered a fact about Venice in that hardly any locals live there (cannot afford it and commute to the mainland) and hence few service providing places stay open late. The hotel restaurant WAS closed but the barman took pity on us and raided the closed kitchen serving us a wonderful lasagna meal even though he was very busy.
Location is fantastic....exit the door , cross a small foot-bridge and you are actually IN St. Mark's Square. And only about 2 blocks from the Grande Canal and public transportation. Gondola rides are available at the side of the hotel and the motorized water taxi we ordered to take us to the airport actually picked us off the hotel balcony.
The free breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices of breads & pastry, meats, eggs, various fruit, juices etc. Most staff members spoke English fluently with a strong service orientation.

"Location, location, location - you get what you pay for???"
I was very apprehensive about booking this hotel and read many reviews, in the end I decided most of the hotels I had checked out via the web looked very similar (think Ikea's advert throw out your chintz) and what had the edge for me with this one appeared to be the location mentioned by everyone and reasonable price for the centre of Venice. So for how much you should stay in a hotel room while on a city break I felt the location would be better than swanky boutique (does such a thing exist in Venice?)
Let me tell you, the hotel for sure is not worthy of a 4*, however it is clean (I even took a bath which is pretty unheard of for me in hotels) and for the centre of Venice I would challenge people to find much better. The location is fantastic, literally on St Marks Square and also only 5 mins walk from Rialto Bridge, which is not explained or realised at all and we found that out purely by accident, saved us lots of blisters and Euros on the Vapporeti and water taxis.
Venice is amazing, albeit very expensive, we had a drink on the square and by the harbour several times, one night a bottle of Pinot Grigo cost us €50 because we were charged for the music and the waiter kept the change!! Wonderful chilled experience but not an every day occurrence.
The water taxis are a great experience, again very expensive but a much quicker route from the airport to your hotel.
We found a fantastic Jazz bar near the Rialto bridge, if you stand at the foot of the stairs on San Marco side facing the bridge its on the street to your right. Very reasonable and very friendly, opens til 3am too!!
Head for Nico's Ice-cream gelateria over on Zattere and have a wander along the quay side, much quieter and chilled then head over to the Accademia Museum and Peggy Guggenheim, if its culture you want to experience and you enjoy art.
I hope you are sold and rest assured the location of this hotel by far outweighs the small rooms. The breakfast was sufficient, much more than just the usual continental offerings and plenty of it.
Enjoy :o}

"Superb"
My wife and I stayed at this fantastically located hotel that is situated just 20 yards from San Marco Piazza. Although we have been to Paris and the Maldives as romantic getaways this place also features highly on our romantic list of places to visit. The staff were very friendly and extremely courteous. Our room was lovely and the décor was to a good standard. Unfortunately the air conditioning did not work but we really did not suffer too much. There is some noise from the gondoliers late at night due to couples taking moonlight punts! We flew with Ryan Air for the first time at a total return cost of just £73, which was brilliant. If you have not flown with this company I would highly recommend them. Stay at this lovely Hotel, You wont be disappointed |

"couldn't fault the service"
Great location...so close to everything. If you're worried about room sizes ask for a room in their new building which is just accross the road - everything was brand new, clean and fresh and a lovely size for a city hotel. The service was what we found outstanding.... we were on honeymoon and the barman arranged a late night gondola ride for us with a bottle of our fave tipple in an ice bucket and organised a table with glasses, nibbles and candlelight. It was magic - you pay for it of course and likewise with the drinks... but that's venice - If you want a cheap holiday its not the right place - if you want magic youre there!

"Good Hotel, Great Location"
I initially couldn't find anything about this hotel on the internet and it was hard to find (thanks to the terrible directions given by the lady at the information stand at San Marco). However, once we eventually found it, we found the hotel to be in one of the best locations you could ask for.
From our room window we could actually see San Marco's square. Fab! The room itself was fine - nothing remarkable, but clean and well set out. Not many english tv channels, but who spends all their time in Venice watching tv. The breakfast was adequate and the hotel staff were friendly.
I got a special deal on the hotel from booking through the internet, and it was worth the money. Would highly recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Venice.
