Alixares Hotel is a modern 4 star hotel constructed in 1982 and renovated in 1994. The hotel is located just 230 meters from Granada's most historic monument, the Alhambra Palace, but is at a distance to the city of Granada itself. Alixares Hotel's facilities include a bar, restaurant serving up a mix of Spanish and International fare, it also boasts an outdoor swimming pool, conference facilities and a solarium. Its spacious rooms and wide range of services make the hotel much in demand in the conference and catering world.
The hotel also has an exterior terrace. The lobby is decorated with the familiar and conventional Andalusian colourful tiles. There is a large reception area, with marble floors and a reception desk. "location , location, location!"
My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Alixares 2 nights Sept.27 & 28. We had 3 individual , comfortable twin beds.
The location could not be beat. Stores downstairs outside of hotel for water and souveniers and walk 2 minutes to the Alhambra (do get your tickets in advance for the Alhambra). There is a minibus that takes you to the city centre and to the
old neighborhood of the Albaycin. We went to the city centre and then just took the minibus up to the Albaycin without getting off. The tiny roads up there scared us but the ride and the view were spectacular- The pool was ice cold maybe because we are in the fall but just being able to lay out there was very relaxing. We ordered fish off the menu at night with a bottle of wine- delicious! By the way, breakfast was included, be sure to ask.

"Great location to visit Alhambra"
finally chose this hotel after horror stories of driving and parking in old town Granada, and it was an excellent choice. It is an easy walk to both the Alhambra and the bus stop to get a ride down to Plaza Neuva and the old part of town. It is easy to drive to the hotel (follow the Alhambra signs) and the front desk personnel speaks English. The rooms were spacious and clean, and we were pleased with our stay. Room rates seemed to be comparable to what I was seeing in the old town area.
We arranged to see Alhambra when it opened (8:30 a.m.), so this location was ideal for us.

great location if you are fit
Located near the Alhambra, but it is still hills, not for the unfit, location is ideal even for the city, busses run till 11.00 pm every few minutes, breakfast was ok coffee was very poor, we eat in the BBQ but the floor was not cleaned hence the poor mark on cleanliness not all rooms are spacious, make sure you specify, also not many have balconies |
