LOCATION

This all-inclusive resort is located 7 km north of Castries, 10 km north of George Charles International Airport (which everyone calls Vigi) and 40 km north of Hewanorra International Airport. The property is minutes away from the vendors' market, which on Saturdays showcases local foods, handcrafted items, and herbs and spices.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* Five restaurants serve a variety of menus with varying degrees of success. The pastel yellow Palm is a large, open restaurant with ample shade, its tables draped with white cloths. It serves Continental fare with a full buffet breakfast British-style, with baked beans and porridge, and with a nod to local cuisine that includes salt fish, vegetables and cassava cakes. Bambou, with its white and blue decor, overlooks the Caribbean. It serves a fusion of St. Lucian and Asian food, such as Chinese cabbage soup and delicious ice cream—pineapple-orange is popular. Morgan's Pier, the latest restaurant, juts about 150 ft into Morgan Bay and features seafood. Le Jardin, an air-conditioned, reservations-only and adults-only restaurant, tries to blend French Creole cuisine with modern ideas. The spice blends bring to mind Indian curry. It features a late-night piano bar. The Plum Bar and Grille near the children's activity area is less formal. It serves hamburgers, hotdogs, soft drinks, and for adults, alcoholic beverages.

* Two main bars and a bar in each restaurant serve premium-brand drinks, juice, soda and nonalcoholic cocktails. Service is friendly, quick and efficient. The very clean snack shack is popular for self-service ice cream, smoothies, popcorn and soft drinks.

* Skilled instructors at the watersports center give free sailing and waterskiing lessons. The equipment is in good shape and well-maintained. Activities include kayaking, aqua cycling, banana boat rides, pedal boats, windsurfing and snorkeling. Close to shore there is not much to see, but more fish come by farther out.

* Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort's 268 guestrooms have patios or balconies furnished with a small table and two chairs where guests can enjoy garden, pool, or ocean views. Decor is contemporary with a Caribbean feel: tropical colors, gauzy curtains, and whitewashed rattan furnishings. Bathrooms have marble countertops and shower/tub combinations. Other amenities include air conditioning, ceiling fans, satellite TV, direct-dial phones, voice mail, in-room safes, coffeemakers, and hair dryers.
