It was ok
Nice Hotel, But 4 star rating...I don't think so. My first impression was a shock! This 4 star hotel has no parking space infront of the door, not even for one car! It actually opens to a bus stop! Next surprise was, it has a door to the street and you have to take the elevator to the lobby as it occupy three floors in the building starting from the second floor. Regular rooms arereally small but family rooms are large and nice. Breakfast is OK. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean. The staff are extremely nice and helpfull. The location is good, close to the lake, shopping, train station.

I booked a room at the Hotel De La Paix through expedia.com for only 80 Sfr. On arrival, I was told that the De La Paix was full, and I was given a room at its next door sister hotel, the Ambassador. The Ambassador is a modern 3-star hotel. The room and ensuite bathroom were both very large for Europe, and the double bed (2 twins joined together) was nice and comfortable. The furniture and carpet could use remodeling, but everything was very clean. One side of the room was all glass and looked over the Boubaki Panorama and adjacent hills - nice view, but lots of street noise if you open the window. Breakfast was average. The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the train station and is at the edge of the pedestrian quarter, very close to the Lion Monument. For the price, this was an unbeatable deal for central Lucerne.

"A hidden gem"
My family stayed here for one night in mid May. The hotel was hard to find and almost hidden in a large modern office and retail building. You enter a tiny vestibule and ride the elevator to the lobby, but once there are greeted by a wonderful staff that couldn't have been more helpful. They gave us info on sightseeing and dining and we had a wonderful time in Lucerne, though it was entirely too short. The hotel seemed geared toward the business traveler but was pleasant for adult travelers. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean. Breakfast was great--even offered steamed milk with your coffee.

"Great location, excellent staff"
Myself and wife stayed at Hotel week of Thanksgiving (11/06). Rooms were extremly clean. Baths were modern. Furniture was also quite nice. Beds also comfortable. Staff was extremly helpful. I feel they went out of their way to help us enjoy Lucern and other parts of Switzerland. Location of hotel was within walking distance of train station and right next to Old Towns shops and restaurants. Plan on visiting Lucern next year and will definitly stay at the Ambassador again

"Good place to stay"
When I booked the room by phone, the person on the telephone was very helpfull and friendly. The building itself is a very modern architecture, location is close to the entrence of the old town. Althought they dont have a restaurant on their own, the hotel connected next door got a very good swiss restaurant. The rooms are ok, clean and at a reasonable price. Breakfast is very good and if you need some help from the front desk staff it seems that they can help you with nearly everything.
