"We loved it!"
I have just returned from the Ambassador Hotel in Prague for 4 girls friends after a long weekend for a friends birthday.
The hotel was absolutely superb, far better than we expected and the location for us was ideal, central to the shops and nightlife but also not too far from the Old Town to have a wander around in the day time
We had a fab time and found the hotel staff very helpful and friendly despite some reviews we had read beforehand.
They were always very polite to us even when they told us other guests in adjacent rooms had complained about us for noise late a night.
The most negative element would be the hotel in general was full of older people say 55+ rather than like minded 20-30 somethings which figure why some people were not happy with loud corridor/room noise before going out and night and on our return, which i guess is fair game.
The breakfast was good, plenty of choice for hot and cold even with a hangover it managed to sort us out! If i was being picky i suppose a bit of fruit would have been good, though they did serve salad for breakfast which is most odd, my mate Lisa loved it!!!
I would recommend Pragur in general to anyone and definately this hotel for a central location to the buzz and even that aside, once in the rooms you would not be disturbed from the outside noise as all rooms are located at the back.
The Wellness Centre was ok but we couldnt have a swedish massage for four of us so had to have 2 separate massages in pairs and it was a little unnerving being in the rooms alone, shame you couldnt share rooms with mates to natter at the same time!
We all found the massages a little rough, and not too relaxing but maybe that is because they were done properely, tho in general it was a nice experience!
Rooms were fab, bathroom in particular was ace with lush baths which we certainly made good use of!
Go here!

"Fantastic Hotel - Great location"
The Ambassador Hotel is situated in the centre of Wenscelas Square, within walking distance of all tourist attractions. Our rooms were beautifully decorated with huge bed, and marble bathroom with jacuzzi bath - which was an added treat. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily with plenty of fresh towels, toiletries, etc. We couldn't fault this hotel at all - except that the 'Casino' was a bit seedy and worth a miss! Overall would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

"Nice location and hotell"
The hotel was easily accessible to the train station, subway and the airport so that was great. It's interestingly plunked in the middle of all of these shops in Wencesles Square so that adds to the safety of the location. The old town square is also fairly close- 10 minute walk.
The staff was also nice and friendly.

"Excellent Location, Rooms, Food and Price!!!"
I stayed with my fiancee in at the Ambassador for 4 nights over New Year in Dec 05. I couldn't fault the hotel in anyway, the 5 star rating is probably a bit generous compared to British standards but the rooms were faultless and even inculde a jacuzzi to unwind in after a day on foot exploring the beautiful city of Prague. We had a great view of the Square, the room would probably have been a safer place to watch New Year arrive as the Czechs go mad with the fireworks at midnight!! The breakfast was also wonderful, everything you could possibly wish for. I would certainly stay here again.

"loved prague and this hotel"
what a beautiful hotel and public rooms. we were 9 of us on vacation. we got in very late, and the hotel restaurant was probably closed, but they invited us to go downstairs to order dinner. the one waiter was so kind and wonderful. the food (for a hotel restaurant) was actually very, very good (and expensive). the rooms were beautiful and the bathrooms were marble, very large and beautiful. there was a jacuzzi and a separate shower, with really good water pressure. there were also a nice array of bathroom amenities, as well as a bathrobe to use while at the hotel. we had no a/c problems. the rooms were very nice and comfy. the location was excellent. walk out and turn right and any part of prague is in front of you. black light theatre, opera house, restaurants, the bridge, clock, whatever. ate at The Blue Rose (can't think of czech name) and it was excellent.

"loved this hotel and its location"
My husband and i have just returned from a 4 night break in prague, taking in the start of the xmas markets which were fabulous. We choose the ambassador after reading all the reveiws on these pages, we found the hotel to be of a generally high standard, the lobby bar was spacious and well decorated. We also had a meal in the lobby bar and it was very good
We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, they also do have a sense of humour if you are willing to chat to them about other things apart from the hotel/service. I forgot to pack our travel adaptor and enquired at reception were we could buy one
the girl brought a box out with various adaptors and phone chargers... problem solved, we handed it back it again at the end of our visit.
The hotels situation could not be better, right at the top of wenselas square, everything was withen walking distance, but take really comfy shoes as most of the streets are cobbled.
Our room did not have a seperate shower(no loss as putting your feet against the water jets in the bath was heaven after a days walking, plus point was we had a mini balcony that we could watch all the hustle and bustle going on down below. There was no extra charge for use of the safe and mini bar which was the best stocked bar we have seen and was very reasonable.Breakfast set us up for the day. too many good eating places to mention, one was Jama which is just off the square follow signs for o'reillys irish pub just as you come to the radisson take a right and its the second bar down, food and drink very very reasonable, it is frequented by all sorts of local czech people ..business men in suits, students and of course us tourists, the waitressess there were very informative about the different types of czech beer.
We would definately go back to the ambassador and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for anyone.

"Excellent choice"
My family travels a lot and always have been thankful for the reviews at this site - so, it is time for payback and for me to share my experiences. We stayed at the Ambassador in July 2005. A challenge for us is always finding a hotel in Europe that allows 2 adults and 2 children in one room.
We saw a great rate advertised on their own website and booked it. It turned out to be better than hoped for. The room was very spacious (we had an extra 'bedroom' for the parents) which was a real plus. The bathroom was very large with a separate shower and jacuzzi.
At breakfast we felt like VIPs. All staff was gracious and helpful and even my fussy 11 year old loved the food (can't go wrong with fresh baked chocolate crepes)
THe hotel is also in a great location - easy walk to great restaurants, or the the metro trains. Also lots of great shopping in walking distance.
Prague was a fun city with lots to see and great food. If we were to go back there,we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

"Amazing Ambassador"
We have just returned from a weekend at the amazing Hotel Ambassador. It has been refurbished to a very high standard, retaining much of the character of its original fixtures and fittings and yet incorporating all the necessary modern facilities one would expect from a high quality modern hotel. Our room was huge with very comfy beds, a large TV and adequate storage, all in immaculate condition. The en suite was the height of luxury, a marble bathroom that contained a fabulous hydro-massage bath; there was a separate shower that I expect would be preferable for summer visitors. Before booking this hotel I had read several reviews and I have to disagree with those who expressed dissatisfaction with the lobby that was, I thought, perfectly adequate for a waiting area. I do, however, agree with those who said the staff were miserable. Despite their super efficiency and immaculate uniforms, the staff did indeed have a most peculiar demeanour; it was as if they had been trained not to show any emotion. Wherever we went in Prague, in museums, shops, concerts etc., however, there was the same attitude and despite my greatest efforts to be polite and appreciative, I did not receive a smile from anybody. It felt as though they were just tolerating our presence, accepting our tourist money but really unprepared to share their beautiful city. Perhaps they start smiling when the weather gets warmer OR perhaps this is a behaviour and attitude ingrained from the communist era. I do not think, therefore, that the criticism of the staff at this particular hotel is justified because their conduct was evidently an idiosyncratic national characteristic.
The breakfast was truly marvellous; the usual array of sumptuous breakfast goodies plus, total decadence, they even had chefs on hand to cook fresh omelettes or pancakes to ones requirements. We also ate in the Halali restaurant on both evenings which was equally superb, excellent choice on the menu, beautifully presented tableware and exceptional service even if without a smile! I certainly needed to go to the gym when we got home!
I found the number of beggars and sick looking peasant people in the general area of the hotel quite disturbing but the location of this hotel is perfect, very central for walking to all the main tourist attractions. We did the ten-minute walk back from a concert on one night that I think was a mistake because it certainly did not feel safe to be out and about after dark in this city. The taxis are also a problem because they will most definitely rip you off. To return to the airport, we booked the hotel car that was a very good service and half the price of the taxi journey from the airport to the hotel. I would therefore recommend contacting the hotel in advance of arrival and booking the car to avoid using the taxis. This hotel is true quality in every sense and I would love to return one day.

"5 Star Bathroom, 4 Star hotel"
The Ambassador Hotel is in an excellent location right on Wenceslas Square with all the big name shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. in the immediate vicinity. A pleasant five minute walk takes you through quaint cobbled streets into Old Town Square, and about 10 mins walk to Karlov Bridge. Our visit (mid December 04) coincided with the fabulous Prague Christmas markets, some of them only a few steps away. We all felt safe even though we had read about watching out for pick pockets etc
It’s five star status is perhaps ambitious by international standards, but certainly I would rate it a very good four star. The reception area is welcoming, fitted out in marble, trimmed with brass, enormous chandeliers and ornate plasterwork. Two small lifts serve the six upper floors.
Rooms were pleasantly furnished, and spotlessly clean. They appeared to have under floor heating, as well as radiators. Even though it was minus 5 outside, they were a little on the warm side especially with the duck down duvets. Rooms also had a free, easy to use room safe, illuminated wardrobe, TV and mini bar. Beds were a bit lumpy, frames creaked and although adequate, could do with being renewed. The bathroom was the 5 star bit, grey/white marble and chrome, complete with jacuzzi bath, quality toiletries and luxurious towels and bathrobes.
The breakfast buffet was good, but not comprehensive enough for a 5 star. Cereals were limited to the Czech brands, (no kelloggs here!). However there was a plentiful selection of cold meats, cheese, bread rolls, yoghurt, bacon, sausage, scrambled egg etc. You could have omelette or crepes made fresh at the buffet.
Staff at reception were very helpful in organising tours and exchanging money. We were in a mixed group and everyone found the hotel to be excellent. We all felt we had chosen well, and can’t wait to return!

"Great Location"
Recommended by friends, Hotel Ambassador exceeded expectations during our visit in March 2005. Right on Wenceslas Square and ideal for most city centre attractions, the hotel operates to very high standards. Staff always available and very helpful, rooms spacious, well equipped with all the little exras and a real delight, breakfast was outstanding with every possible taste catered for. Crepes and omelettes prepared as you watch. Excellent location, with its own casino next door. Only 2 very small points - it would be nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the room, and sometimes the very efficient and helpful breakfast staff are a bit over zealous when clearing used crockery from your table. If it hasn't been touched for 30 seconds, be careful, it might be whipped away. We would return to Hotel Ambassador again and again.
