A&o Hostel Am Zoo is situated in the lively heart of downtown West Berlin, Germany, opposite the famous Zoo railway station, and just 400 meters from Kurfurstendamm, Berlin's main shopping center. Guest at this hotel will find attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and the Tiergarten, are easily reached via trains leaving from Zoo station. Guests can reach the A&O Hotel via an express bus that runs from Berlin's Tegel airport to the Zoo station.

Guests can begin the day with buffet breakfasts and later enjoy karaoke, console games, billiards and refreshing drinks in the hotel's two bars. The hotel's 120 guestrooms are simply decorated in white or yellow and have wooden floors. Many have private shower rooms. Dormitories sleep up to eight people.

The hotell was ok. Pherhaps it suite the younger public. 1 min to walk to Zoo trainstation, 20 min to walk to city.

"great little hostel"
Just returned from this hostel after a 4 night stay. Good clean rooms, nice shower room, no problems. We had never stayed in a hostel before and was very surprised by how clean everything was. The only bit of nit picking i can make is the noise of some of the younger guests. They just dont know how to close doors. Supply yourselves with a pair of earplugs and youve cracked it would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the old west of berlin.

"a bit different because it isn't a youth hostel"
We (daughter, 13; son,15; myself, !!) had just gotten off the train from Amsterdam after my wife flew back to the USA. I had thought I reserved a youth hostel via IBN, but they had never heard of me. However, some fellow travellers told us about the A&O hostel, located just across the road from Zoo Station, where we departed the train. It was fantastic, and we lucked out again with family quarters for two nights. Even better was the New Berlin tour service; they were absolutely fantastic, the highlight of being in Berlin. That, and the chocolate shop. But you need to ask them while on the walking tour of downtown Berlin. I can't say enough good things about New Berlin or the A&O.
