"nice resort if you like it quiet"
We spent a week at the Aquamarine and quite liked it. Rooms are nice, the pools and view beautiful, good food, breakfast as well as restaurants in general. We did not mind the walking up and down as it was the only time we moved our bodies at all during the day (well, twice in the fitness room). But for handicapped people it would be difficult. Also most of the staff hardly speak English and it is pretty impossible to have some kind of drink especially mixed (or to just ask wether a drink has pineapple in it). Most staff are very friendly and helpful though (except the sole male at the reception, who does not bare lightly being disturbed). Most guests were from Korea during our stay and most people only had breakfast, the pool areas as well as the restaurants were quite empty during the day and dinner. The restaurants serve nice (Thai/Asian) food (IMHO) and the price might be high for native Thai standards but actually quite moderate for an international hotel.

"A peaceful getaway"
We (me, my husband and 2 year old daughter) stayed at the Aquamarine from Dec 26, 2006 - Jan 14th. We had a pleasant stay and really appreciated the quietness of the hotel. Patong was way too much for us! The rooms are spread out over a few hills and it's true, you can work up a sweat just walking to and fro, but that's not exactly a bad thing. We stayed in room 7204, it had a view of the ocean ( I think most rooms do) and it was well located, next the the detached pool and an easy walk to the hotel restaurants (just one small hill). Also, it has right next to the walkway to the beach. The hotel also had a natural stream running through the grounds that they dammed and made a lovely pond out of. This may have contributed to all the mosquitoes which would make there appearance everyday at sun up and sun down. The grounds were nice, I like all the orchids planted everywhere. The hotel is also situated on a hill, therefore it was untouched by the tsunami, unlike it's neighboring hotel, which was destroyed.

"Comfortable rooms, Excellent Restaurant & Friendly Staff"
I actually found my experience at this hotel to be comfortable and well worth what I paid for my stay of 5 nights. When I checked in, the staff were friendly and were more than willing to answer all my questions about Vancouver tours and local malls. They also recommended a car rental agency for me and called them on my behalf. They arranged for the car rental to come and pick me up too! The room was spacious and I was told that I had a newly remodelled room and it looked new to me. Everything was clean and bright. I also visited their restaurant for dinner and was amazed by the presentation and quality of the steak and it was very reasonable as well. Breakfasts were also very tasty with nice fluffy omelettes. I would recommend this place to my friends as I found my experience positive and well worth what I paid. I had checked around for rates and this was the most reasonable price.

"Mostly good."
We flew into Vancouver around midnight last week and decided to stay close to the airport for the night. Even though there were mixed reviews, I decided to book a room at this hotel and I think it was not a bad decision, The hotel is very close to the airport and the room was decent. The hallway however was dingy and a little scary/shady. Anyway the room was clean and comfortable with two queen beds. It was a surprise that they offered us free breakfast (OK, not a big spread, but enough to get you started - we ordered additional stuff and paid for it). For what we paid - $69 - it was pretty good. We stayed there for the night and stayed elsewhere for the rest of our trip.
