"If you do not go here, I will hide in your suitcase and go for you."
I know that most people will look at other postings and compare the bad and the good - but sometimes you have to overlook others' opinions as we're all different and expect different things. Before we visited this hotel, we read reviews that made it sound more like a hostel than a hotel; anyhow... I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!! In some ways, yes it can be basic (it doesn't have a swimming pool, it's not next to a palace and as it's not central it's often overlooked) - it's about fifteen minutes walk from the main area of Prague, but if you like staying somewhere unusual, original and in a more residential area it's amazing - plus the walk allows you to take in the things that you'd never usually appreciate (local shops, cafe's and czech life). My other half and I are not the most energetic or fit people, but as the walk into town gave you the opportunity to see so much, we prefered to do this each day. Although there is a tram stop literally two minutes away, the area around the hotel is no noisier than a quiet residential suburb usually is (occassional cars, bin collections every so often), which adds to the experience, if like us, you don't like touristy areas and want to feel a bit more like a local. It isn't noisy, unclean, scary or unwelcoming as an area of town though - I would happily walk around after nightfall, and I'm a young female! The hotel was clean, with friendly staff who spoke excellent English and the buffet breakfast (cheeses, cooked meat, scrambled eggs, cereals, fresh fruit, breads, champagne?!!) was amazing. The atmosphere and overall decor of the place blew me away - I'm a college/uni lecturer and as an architectural building and a hospitable establishment, I have convinced other colleagues to visit. The rooms are so spacious I felt like moving from my home into one (the bedroom I had, complete with balcony was twice as big as my living room). We had English tv channels and although the bar was pricey, the convenience store around the corner sold coca cola for around 75p per 2litre bottle and quarter bottles of quality vodka for less than £2. The literature in the foyer was in English (amongst other languages) and gave more info about a wider range of excursions and attractions than we found on the web, often including discounts. Although the hotel does not have coffee making facilities in it's rooms, they are amazingly helpful if you do need caffeine, whilst the breakfast room doubles up as a well priced restaurant on an evening (often with entertainment of a high standard). Book your return airpot transfers through reception - it's cheaper than taxi's and very reliable, try the 'Fantasie Bar' down the road (to your left of main reception and over the road) for cheap and great czech food - they also do vegetarian (don't let the name confuse you: It's a small, welcoming pub, with a warm atmosphere and English speaking hosts - not a strip joint) and enjoy your stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone - I can't wait to take my boyfriend back for another romantic stay. We booked through Thomsons online and loved it.

"Very impressed"
We stayed at the Arcotel Teatrino on 8 September for the weekend. Loved the convenient location, just 20 minutes walk from the centre of the City. The staff were friendly and the hotel clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was 'all you can eat' and you can request the chef to cook what is not laid out. I had fried eggs and bacon cooked for me and it was excellent! We found that we did not need to use any public transport at all as all the sights were within easy walking distance.

"Great Priced Hotel"
Stayed here for 2 nights in Sept 06. Hotel was great. Clean, modern and with local transport links by Tram and Bus. I enjoy taking public transport when away (not just for the cost saving) as you feel like a local. I recommend buying a day pass for CZK 80 from the tabac as u can jump on any transport when feeling shattered ;-) Transport is very easy to use, I even caught the bus/tram from the airport at 10pm in the evening (took 45 mins) Breakfast I personally thought was a rip off. Just catch the tram into town (10 mins) and you can have all u can eat for 1/3 of the price at the hotel (Hotel = Czk 420 = £10+). I recommend a walking tour, my guide was very good - u're knackered afterwards but it's worth it (think of all the calories burned!)
