Excellent hotel with lovely views across the Danube. A little pricey concidering breakfast was not included but handy for Palace, Fishermans Basillica. Pest only a ten minute stroll over the Chain Bridge. I found the "Real" Budapest beyond the Parliament buildings to be best, cheap food and drink, where the locals live, well worth a visit. Advise to book a return taxi from the Airport which is half an hour away, I found them to be very reliable. Also don't be afraid to try public transport, a bit of an eye opener. |

"Superb location, fantastic views, lovely room!"
Stayed in art'otel for my husband's 40th birthday. Really lovely hotel, we upgraded for river views, which was well worth the extra money for the views of the parliament buildings and Chain Bridge. Clean, well run and good amenities. We had breakfast in our room every day, which seemed like better value than the buffet breakfast, really nice food.
The location is great, there is a tram stop practically outside the hotel and a metro line just 5 mins walk away.
All attractions within easy reach. Key highlights for us were our visit to the Rudas baths, (just two tram stops from the hotel heading towards Chain Bridge). These are 15th century baths with an original octagonal bath surrounded by 4 smaller baths with varying temperatures, (watch out for the 42 degree bath, ouch!). We also had a massage here for just £6 each, highly recommended. NB: Men only during the week, mixed bathing at weekends only. Also loved our cycle ride on Margaret Island and our visit to Vaci Street and the Central Market.
Going out is very reasonable, our favourite eatery was just 5 mins walk from the hotel. Turn left from the hotel and head towards the Battyany Ter metro station. 'Vigado Sorozo Etterem' is down a side street at the side of the Bank near the station. Very reasonably priced food, delicious, very good service and frequented by all the locals. Try the Goulash, lovely!
There's a really great beer hall 1 min from the hotel called the Belgium Brasserie. turn right out of the hotel. Great service, popular with locals and tourists and there must be 50 beers on the menu.
We had a great time and think art 'otel is probably one of the best hotels in teh city!

"Excellent on the Buda Side"
The rooms are large and comfortable. The beds are a little on the hard side. The A/C is typical European and is only adequate until the outside air temperateure reaches something above 80F and then it gets a little warm in the room. If you want to stay on the Buda side then this is probably the best place.
We were so satisfied with the Art'otel we sent them this email upon our return to the US:
We checked into the Art’otel Budapest on the 20th of May and checked out on the 27th of May. During our stay we found your staff to be among the most excellent and attentive that we have encountered while traveling in Europe. Please let me express our appreciations to:
Judit: Who was kind, attentive and sweet in handling our questions and needs. She is a real asset to your hotel. You would be wise to ensure that she has a long and happy employment at the Art’otel Budapest. Please express to her my sincere appreciation for making our stay so nice.
Nicky: It isn’t often that you meet a gentlemen that tries so hard to please. His care in the restaurant was sincere and greatly appreciated.
Tibor and Monika: The service in the bar was friendly and attentive. Tibor and Monika were a very welcome to way to start and finish each day of sight seeing.
House Keeping Staff: Their attention to detail in our room was superb. Among the best we have encountered.
Laundry Service: We attempted to travel light so we relied on the laundry service to a great degree. The clothing came back to our room in a very timely manner and the quality of the work was outstanding.
Please express our personal gratitude to each of these people.
Warmest Regards,

"Excellent accomodation"
Really happy with this hotel. Very high standard for rooms, facilaties and fantastic location. Was a really hot weekend when we visited so was glad for the good airconditioning in the rooms.
Also the view from the room was amazing, we were facing the back which actually looked out at the spiral church.
Breakfast was good if you wish the Central European menu of hams, cheeses and croissants and scrambled eggs.

"Lovely Hotel, modern clean, big rooms, next to the Danube"
Stayed here for 3 nights on a good deal (booked early for once).
Initially disappointed that we had booked a room without a view (the website states only the back rooms were twins) to discover that the double rooms at the front were twin beds pushed together. Anyway, didn't matter. My friend and I were on the 4th floor and had a great view of the Buda hill and palace whilst my other friend had a river view but a noisy road!!!
We were on a room only basis, but the reception area was nice, staff very helpful and our room was great. Only negative was the inattentiveness of the bar staff on my 2nd night (only night I used it).
Would definitely go back. Whilst it's a bit further to walk into town to the bars, taxis are easy to get hold off and it is just about in walking distance of the funicular and Gellert hotel and baths.

"Love the Art'otel"
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Art'otel, very pleased with our choice. Booked a superior Danube view room at approx. 180 euros per night. You can get deals on this hotel on the net but just check you are getting the Danube view - it is wonderful. Traffic is noisy on the road in front of the hotel but the double glazing/soundproofing in the room keeps the noise out so that you can sleep fine.
Room smart and clean, nice bathroom, friendly staff, good restaurant and bar - can't fault the hotel at all.
Found nice French restaurant behind the French Institute 5 mins walk away (Restaurant de Paris), dined in the garden, very atmospheric with lanterns on the table, superb food.
The position of the Art'hotel is fine, easy walk to the Chain Bridge or to the metro in the opposite direction, trams stop right outside. We went on a city tour to get our bearings and then walked everywhere using the map the hotel gave us, distances aren't that great and you need the exercise if you are eating breakfast, lunch and dinner and pastries .......
I don't understand why some reviewers have mentioned that the hotel is away from the main action - unless you are infirm, the walk from the Intercontinental in Pest next to the Chain Bridge over to Art'otel in Buda is about 10 minutes. Taxis are plentiful, just agree the price first and you are OK. Taxi from the airport with Zona was 4500 Forints, all very organised, but we made the mistake of not phoning Zona for the trip back to the airport, asked the hotel to call us a taxi and it cost 6400 Forints, our mistake, just be careful on this.
Budapest is a grittier city than Prague but very attractive all the same, and that view at night over to Parliament, the Chain Bridge and Gellert Hill all illuminated was wonderful. We had a great trip, recommended.

"Great hotel"
Excellent hotel on Buda side of the river. Quiet but not too far out - 15 mins walk over the Chain Bridge to Pest. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Great breakfast buffet - all you could eat for 12 euros. They also do a 2 for 1 on main meal in the evening - this was excellent food but as they didn't change the menu, we only ate from it once. 2 fabulous restaurants nearby - Cascas, complete with pianist and violinist - fabulous food and service and the other was A la Carte - smaller but again great food and not as expensive.

"Good Hotel"
This hotel is indeed in a good location. It also has good views from both sides of the hotel if you are on floor three or above. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful. The room was small, but not cramped. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
p.s., there's a good family restaurant just behind the hotel. The fish soup and paprika chicken was quite good.

"Modern, stylish, great location"
This was the best-designed, most aesthetically-pleasing hotel I've ever stayed in. Great location (15 minute walk across the Chain Bridge to the heart of Pest; 5 minute walk to the stairs at the base of Castle Hill; a tram stop right outside) & great breakfast too. We got a good deal -- partly because we were there off-season (January).
We had a Danube-view room. The view was stunning--really one of my favorite parts of our trip--but the traffic noise from Bem Rakpart was annoying. If you're sensitive to noise at night, don't get the Danube-view room. Otherwise, it's well worth the extra cost.

"Excellent Hotel"
Really good location, with great views. Hotel staff very friendly and the rooms were clean. We booked the Queen-Size Danube view, and it was very spacious and worth the money. The view over the Danube was as you can imagine spectacular. Hotel resteraunt was pretty pricey, and there were a number of good coffee shops (SOHO) and cafe/bars (Sailor Inn & Belgian Beer Bar) very close by. A much better bet!
Hotel is very handy for the attractions in Buda, which are worth spending the day in. This side of the river is a lot quieter than exciting Pest, so it's not ideal for stag/hen parties. However, it's a safe 15 minute walk over the bridge to Pest.
Overall, visit this lovely city and be inspired. Hotel is a good base for exploring the city.

"Excellant boutique hotel - highly recommend it"
expect of a 4 star hotel, good sized modern rooms with very nice decor. Bathroom was lovely and was pristine and a good size.
The breakfast was great too and offered everything from cereal, fruit and croissants to the bacon and eggs type of breakfasts.
Location is great as both sides of the hotel will give you a great view in Budapest either of the river or other monuments. Only thing i would say is that if you walk into Pest via the bridge, it is about a 10-15 min walk (albeit a very beautiful walk as you see all the monuments and buildings as you walk along the river) For some people, it may be better to be more centrally located on the Pest side as this is where the majority of restaurants, bars etc are.
We stayed for 4 nights and really can recommend it.

"It's all about the view"
I stayed at the Art ‘Otel’s sister hotel in Berlin 3 or 4 years ago and I was completely under whelmed by the experience. But previous reviews of this place persuaded me to give this Group another try and I was glad I did.
The biggest plus point has to be the view from the Danube facing rooms, especially of an evening with Parliament building to your left and the Chain Bridge to your right. Stunning!
Also, I couldn’t fault the room, décor, bar (a bit on the expensive side), breakfast or the staff (very friendly).
If had one gripe it would be that being stuck on the Buda side of the river you are a bit of a distance away from the main restaurant and nightlife areas. But saying that the public transport is excellent and I think the views more than make up for that extra bit of travelling time.
