"breakfast was very good, the room wasn't"
Astor Saint Honore Hotel's breakfast was very good, the room wasn't.
The airco unit was defect, so we had to keep the windows open for fresh air -introducing kitchen sounds into the room- the bed was uneven and the room was small.
The staff was very friendly and professional, the food was fine.

"Ten minutes' walk from the Champs Elysees "
Astor Saint Honore Hotel's location is excellent. Ten minutes' walk from the Champs Elysees and even less to Boulevard Hausmann. I don't know Paris very well and I'd never been to the St Augustin area before (the Rue d'Astorg is opposite the imposing St Augustin church and very near the eponymous Metro station).
Fantastic breakfast and elegant public rooms. The breakfast had a wide range of well cooked eggs etc and fresh fruit salad in lovely silverware.
As usual in Paris you couldn't swing a cat in the bedrooms but the rooms were well appointed, immaculate and comfortable. Shame there was no hospitality tray/kettle. We had the use of fluffy dressing gowns and slippers.

"Hidden Gem"
We stayed at the Hotel Astor Saint-Honore for two nights during September 2006. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who checked us in and showed us to our room. We had booked a standard room, which was a really good size and was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It had french windows and a smallish balcony overlooking a courtyard area. The bathroom was newly fitted and offered complimentary toiletries and use of bathrobes.
The hotel itself is situated down a quiet street, and is about a 7 minute walk from the nearest metro station. The surrounding area has a few restaurants and bars.
The hotel restaurant is not open over the weekend, so we couldn't eat there in the evening, however we took breakfast on both mornings and the choice and quality was excellent, including a cold and hot buffet, consisting of scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, etc.
The hotel has a small bar which appears to be very popular, we had drinks there on both evenings and the bar person was extremely helpful and friendly supplying our beverages until the early hours!
Overall, this is a fantastic hotel. Although it is a little on the expensive side, we booked via airmiles, making our staff very reasonable. It does feel a little bit out of the way of the true tourist sights, but the standard and service of the hotel makes up for this. I would not hesitate in returning there.

"a little gem"
This is a great little hotel located in a side street between the Champs Elysées and the Opera.
Rooms at this hotel do seem to be smaller than experienced at some other properties, so if this will be an issue then you either need to upgrade room category or go someplace else. Rooms are decorated in a traditional style, and perhaps slightly dated, but very clean and well maintained. The compact bathroom was spotless.
The buffet breakfast served in the spacious restaurant was excellent and an excellent start to the busy day ahead.
A brisk walk to the Champs Elysées takes about twenty minutes through the attractive government quarter. You can also walk to the famous Paris department stores Au Printemps and Galeries Lafayette in about the same time.
An intimate hotel, which seemed to offer unpretentious quality.
