"I was impressed"
After reading the bad reviews on here we were quite apprehensive about going. My friend & I (both 21) paid £70 each for 4 nights here, including breakfast. It was meant as a cheap break away.
The hotel has a fantastic location - you're about a 3-4 minute walk from Sol which has lots of bars, restaurants & shops. Metro access is everywhere....lots of bus stops....but this hotel is right in the centre.
Our room was looking out onto three other walls - no view, but you may be able to get one looking onto the street. However, other people complain of noise though - we didn't hear any from our room so I guess they must mean the street! On our first night we went to bed at 1am & it was quiet as anything. The other 3 nights we didn't get back til 6-7am so I couldn't comment, lol! Although the hotel was noisy in the sense walls are very thin & if someones moving stuff upstairs, or checking out, the whole hotel hears it. Didn't try the breakfast as we were usually going to bed lol, but there's lots of cafes round, especially one a couple of doors down if you turn right from the hotel. Yes, the rooms are old, & so is the hotel...but I don't know, it has sort of a quaint feel & we didn't see what everyone was complaining about. We paid less than £20 a night, with breakfast....you get what you pay for afterall!
Reception area was quite modern & clean & there was a bar, though we didn't get anything from here.
I'd imagine it'd be very hot here in the summer as we always had to leave our window open. Can't complain about this hotel - we got it at a great price, you can't beat the location, staff are very helpful .
We're staying there again in October! We love all the bars & clubs around the area, so we can't think of a better hotel. We used it as somewhere to get ready & sleep & for that it's great!!

"So Spanish..."
We stayed at the Asturias as the first hotel of our honeymoon. We had been delayed due to a lost passport at a connection airport- the hotel staff was wonderful about changing our reservation. This hotel is listed as a 2-star, but I enjoyed it more than some of the nicer-quality hotels that I stayed at later on the same trip. It's a great central location- you can walk to so much- a plaza with restaurants & bars, the Prado plus a self-service laundromat and Internet points. The subway has great connnections to the airport, trains stations, and basically everywhere you would want to go. The room screams "Spanish"- I love the tiled floor, it's so appropriate for a warm climate. The window overlooks a bustling street, which makes you feel connected to the city around you. If you want luxury, this is not it. It is basic, local style- for me it added a lot to my Spanish experience. The only negative was that we were required to purchase breakfast, but unable to eat it some days, because we it wasn't served early enough to catch our trains.

"Great hotel"
Cheap, friendly and central hotel. It is not the Ritz but is worth every penny! Very Spanish - traditional.
This is a city central hotel so it is very noisy outside. However, this is what madrid is all aobut - traffic jams at 4am!
I went last summer and I am sure the room had air con?
Would book again here - Madrid is a great city. The metro is great and very easy to use Pickpockets???????????? Nah!
