"Superb Hotel"
Stayed for 2 nights in May this year. This is an absolutely wonderful hotel. The rooms are large, well furnished with en suite bathroom. Very clean and plush. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and professional. Food was good. I would describe this hotel as 'relaxed elegance'. Would definately return.

"Overall good experience"
Hotel was physically beautiful. Service ranged from excellent to indifferent depending on who you got. The concierge were very helpful. We booked a king non smoking but they gave us a kjng smoking. We had to settle for 2 twins non smoking, OK but not what we booked and not to our romantic vacation plans. The food was good but pricey. The rooftop resturaunt was beautiful but very expensive. The location was OK but bordered on a rather poor neighborhood. No bad experiences to report. The hotel was clean.

"Great 80’s hotel; horrible location"
This hotel has all the hallmarks of a top-of-the-line Intercontinental. Except one. Location. The area around the hotel is a pit. While it’s close to the Acropolis and the Plaka neighborhood (20 minute walk), the area between the hotel and the historic area is not a pedestrian zone. Picture this: broken and cracked sidewalks, tree limbs at neck-level, and random crap (can I say that here?) blocking your way. But inside the hotel the staff is excellent, the food is excellent, and the rooms are big. All my colleagues reported that their rooms were bigger than expected. On top of that, the hotel staff know how to make a bed (my litmus test for a hotel – sheets must fit the bed, etc.). As for aesthetics, the hotel was built (or refurnished?) in the early 80’s. The art on the walls in my room was dated 1982 and looked it. Sculptures in the lobby and restaurants would have been comical if it had been ironic, but I’m pretty sure it was serious. The restaurant/bar on the top (10th) floor was very nice with a great view of the Acropolis. Great place to stay, but plan to take a taxi always.

"Great Hotel, offbeat location, a bit expensive as most in Greece"
Great hotel with upscale rooms and bathrooms. A bit aged in decoration but still top of the class. It is close to the city centre BUT the hotel is in such a ramshackle area. Walking at night from/to the nearest underground station (15mins) requires a bit of verve and no visible valuables. Take care with the taxi drivers. It is probably the best way to get around from this hotel, but they will almost always try to get you to dinner at Pireus, Microlimano (great spot), Plaka, etc...and ALWAYS at their "recommended" restaturant. Also, when involuntarily sharing a cab (happens a lot!), make sure you don't get dropped of at the other side of the driveway. There is a pedestrian subway, not very nice at night, though...

"Great Service"
We stayed 2 nights in this hotel in February. The hotel is approx 1.5 miles from the Acropolis & city centre but they have an hourly shuttle bus which is great (times clearly marked) and it is 150 metres from a tram stop, less than 10 minutes from a metro and cabs are cheap (3-5 euros from centre) so this is not a problem. Not too much nearby. Concerierge gave best service I have ever experienced. Would definatley return if the price was right.

"Great hotel!"
intercontinental is one of the 2-3 best hotels in Athens. First of all it' s a real 5-star hotel. It's the second time I stay there and I like the hotel even more than the first time which was last year. The rooms are beautiful, well decorated and spacious. I stayed at a Club Intercontinental room at the 8th floor with an zamazing Acropolis view. It was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had in Greece. The quality of the food at the 2 restaurants of the hotel is superb. The view of the rooftop Premiere is amazing. The service is fantastic. The location is not so central (not so far either as some reviewers said- it's 10 min by car to go to Syntagma) but there is an hourly complimentary shuttle service which is very convenient. And if someone would like to visit the coastal area of Athens and Piraeus the location is ideal. In my opinion it's the second luxurious hotel in Athens after Great Bretagne and the prices are much more affordable. If you look for a big true 5-star hotel in Athens you don't have to think about any other hotel!

"Loved our stay"
The intercontinental is a wonderful hotel. The staff is gracious and very helpful. Our room was very large. It was on an upper floor with a view of the acropolis. The buffet breakfast has everything a person could want.Athough it is outside of the city center the free shuttle bus runs every half hour. It is very peaceful being away from the pace of the city. The best of both worlds. When i return to Athens I will definitely stay at the Intercontinental

"Luxury and Satisfaction"
Intercontinental in Athens is the place to stay! We had the business floor and access to business lounge with a terrace looking at Acropolis. What a great place to sip on your (free) champagne as you unwind after a busy day. Hotel has a shuttle to the center every 30min or an 1h ( 5 minute ride) so it is very convenient to go sightseeing in the morning, come back for siesta in the afternoon, and go again for dinner to Plaka. Service was outstandin, and they employ intelligent staff that gets your requests right.

"Excellent choice in Athens!"
My wife and I stayed here in Sept 05 for 3 nights. The room was spacious and clean, with a large bathroom. All of the rooms seem to have a partial view of the Acropolis. Though far from the Acropolis, the hotel runs a free shuttle bus to and from Plaka every half hour. Very convenient and easy. Breakfast was $19 for a wimpy buffet, $28 for a huge amount. So we ordered off menu for about $11 and that was very adequate. This is a large, busy hotel. Concierge assistance was quite good. (I ate in the best restaurant of my life in Athens: EDODI. Also, SPONDI was excellent. Of course, tavernas all over Athens provide wonderful local food.)
