LOCATION
Athens Gate Hotel is perfectly located opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Gate which was constructed by the Athenians to welcome the Roman emperor Adrianos (Hadrian).
The distance of Acropolis is 500 m from the hotel. Acropolis is one of the most famous archaeological sites of Athens and here, the Temple of Parthenon provides a fascinating reminder of classic Greek civilization. The New Acropolis Museum is only 100 m from the hotel.
The Syntagma Square and the commercial center of Athens are also only 500 meters away. Syntagma Square is the site of the parliament building and here, you can visit the National Garden, Zappeio, and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. It is the starting-point for citizens and tourists moving to many parts of the capital city.
The international airport of Athens is approximately 34 kilometers away and you can reach the hotel either by taxi (about 45 minutes drive) or by using the subway, till Acropolis station, which is only 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel.

"Good value for the price"
Four of us stayed at Athens Gate in March, 2004. It does not make a very good first impression. The lobby and the room looks a bit shabby.
However, the bathroom appears to have been recently renovated, the room was clean and we had a view of the Parthenon. The staff was very helpful. I would stay there again. For the price we paid, the room was adequate and the location was great

"Great location"
Room basic but clean. Yes it is noisy but what do you expect being slap bang in the middle of Athens. Greeks don't do breakfast but what was on offer was adequate (continental style, bacon + scrambled egg, bread, croissants, cornflakes, yoghurt and fruit). View from the roof terrace out of this world - food a little pricey. Very close to Acropolis Mertro station.
