Hotel Information
4-star hotel in Roman suburbs with easy access to the Vatican City

The Aureliano is a four star hotel in an area of the Roman suburbs that is a popular commercial and residential zone. The popularity of the area is an advantage for guests who choose this hotel as the public transport is excellent with regular bus and metro connections to all parts of Rome.
The Aureliano Hotel is a short distance from the Vatican giving tourists as much time as they wish to stroll around St. Peter's Square, the Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the beautiful Sistine Chapel, the famous masterpiece of Michelangelo.
The hotel is recommended both for tourists and business travellers due to its location. There are two conference rooms in-house which can accommodate up to 90 people for business meetings.

LOCATION

The Aureliano Hotel is outside the historical centre but enjoys regular connections with the centre, and other parts of the city, due to the importance of the area as a residential and commercial zone. Guests of the hotel can shop where the Romans shop, and eat where the Romans eat, without paying high tourist prices. The area is also quiet without the bustling crowds of the centre of Rome, which encourages a quiet night's sleep for guests.
The Via Aurelia and the surrounding area is lined with clothing stores, snack bars, restaurants and every other type of shop immaginable. Several bus lines serve the area both during the daytime and at night, and the Metro Line A is close by; the nearest metro stop is Cornelia Station, about 10-15 minutes walk away. Guests can take the metro from here directly to the Vatican, the Spanish Steps, the Via Veneto, San Giovanni and Roma Termini train station, from where transport connections to both of Rome's airports leave throughout the day.

"Fantastic"
I just returned from Rome and had to report about my fabulous stay at the hotel Aureliano. This place is a little bit of a walk from the Cornelia Subway station. It took me 15 minutes. There is a bus (246) but I waited 15 minutes and decided to walk instead. Getting from the airport was pretty simple except it took me 1.5 hours because I missed the train and had to wait another 30 minutes for the next one. There are two trains to Termini station. I waited for the non stop one. It gets pretty crazy at debarqation time, but I managed to get a seat no problem. Once I arrive in Termini station it was easily marked as to where to get the subway. There are two main lines which are easy to get to know and was my main way to getting around to all the attractions. Spent the whole day in fact stopping at many of the stops to view the surrounding neighbourhood. Stunning. Once you get off at Cornelia station proceed to Aurelia Ave exit. You will see MacDonalds once you come up the stairs. Go straight ahead and you will see the bus stop and if you decide to walk you simply turn right onto Aurelia and proceed about 1200 meters. The hotel is on the left and has a well displayed sign which you can even see well from the bus. It's a new building and in spic and span shape. The washrooms are all marble tiled and has a deep soaking tub which I enjoyed with my bottle of wine. But wait, I didn't have a corkscrew in the room. I called downstairs and asked if they had one I could borrow and the guy said, "No problem, it would be our pleasure to open your wine". And up he came in a flash. I knew at that point I was in a wonderful hotel. Well actually, the guy that checked me in was extremely friendly. As were the other hotel staff. Charming indeed. And yes, Barbara is a sweetie. My only issue and it's trivial really because you fall asleep anyway, is the sound of other peoples plumbing. I could hear what sounded like toilets flushing. But as I say it was a minor issue compared to the comfort I was experiencing in my double room which I got at hotels.com for 112 us a night. It included a balcony which was great from smoking even though I was in a smoking room. The tv has a lot of channels but only three in english. MTV, CNN and BBC. It was enough after spending the day touring. I toured the vatican for 22 euros with a group tour. Well worth it. There is very little english in Rome but the waiters and hotel staff seem to know the most. Otherwise Romans are not the most friendliest people. But being a Canadian makes the contrast even clearer I quess. I was appauled at the excessive Graffiti everywhere, and I mean everywhere. It's amazing that they don't do anything to stop it. I think it is even encouraged when you look at how rampant it is. What a shame. Another very noticable thing was the number of cigarette buts everywhere. Italians love to smoke you will see what I mean. But what really annoyed me was the number of Marlbouro cigarette packs littering the streets. And having been to several US cities I would venture to guess that these litter bugs are American. Yes, I said it. Well, I certainly didn't see any Italians smoking American cigerettes. Shame on you neighbours.

"Great hotel for great price!"
I read the wonderful reviews about this hotel and decided to try it out. Let's just say I wasn't disappointed. The hotel was modern, clean and comfortable. The rooms were adequate in size with all the furnishings expected for any decent hotel. The bathrooms seem newly renovated and most importantly CLEAN. The air conditioning was functioning and kept the room at the right temperature. The breakfast was great, with scrambled eggs and fresh fruits highlighting a wonderful meal. Do get there early as the eggs do run out quickly. The dining room staff were polite. Unfortunately there were a few short-comings. Some of the desk staff were rude and unhelpful, which seems to be common at Italian hotels. However, one of the more helpful staff did provide me with a great map of the city. There is no storage room to hold your luggage if you show up at the hotel earlier than the 2 pm check in time. They just told us to leave it at the hallway, and it was up to us whether to guard the luggage or to leave and to hope nobody else takes it. This hotel is a bit far from the Centre of Rome and gets a bit seedy at night, but it is about a 15 min walk to the Metro station. Overall though I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and if you don't mind travelling for a bit on the Metro to get the the centre of Rome, I would recommend it.
