"High Recommended!"
Our first visit to Vienna in July '03 was superb and enjoyable in large part to our stay at the Austria Trend Donauzentrum. For the price we paid, about 70 Euros per night, it was tough to beat. It is located 2 blocks from the end of one of the subway lines, perfect for accessing the city center (10 minutes) or either of the train stations. The room was modest and clean with extremely comfortable beds, cable tv, and a nice bathroom. However, the best part of our stay was the free breakfast. It was buffet style with a huge spread...fresh fruits, juices, rolls, croissants, meats, cheeses, cereals, etc. One of the managers was really friendly and asked us if we needed any help finding things to do or sites to see. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have a great time in Vienna.

"Clean, quiet sanctuary minutes from Vienna's city center"
We stayed at the Austria Trend Hotel Donauzentrum for 5 nights in October 2004. We booked over the internet, and got a rate of 98 euros/night, much cheaper than some of our aquaintances staying in a hotel which, though with a higher star rating, wasn't nearly as nice.
All of the rooms face inward over the courtyard of the Donauzentrum, a huge mall, which closes fairly early at night. As a results, our room was very quiet, with absolutely no street noise. There was also no noise from adjacent rooms, which was wonderful. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the room and bathroom (with a wonderfully deep tub!) were spotless. There was a minibar, TV, digital alarm clock, and safety deposit box. There was a sauna, steam room, and icebath on the 4th floor.
The breakfast buffet was awesome! There were at least 8 different types of bread, scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, cheeses, cold cuts, breakfast sausage, the Austrian version of bacon (which, frankly, I found a little weird!), 3 different types of yogurt, muesli's, hazelnuts, walnuts, fresh fruits, and 2 different fruit salads. The coffee was also wonderful! (can you tell I like food?).
There is a computer in the lobby, and you can buy internet access cards which were pretty reasonable. The front desk staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful.
The adjacent mall has everything, if you feel like taking a day off from seeing the traditional sites. It has a huge wine store (get some Icewine!), great coffee shops (try the Cappucino at Edusho!), and even a Spar supermarket! (don't forget to load up on Ritter Sport chocolate bars before you head out of Austria!).
Location--it's at the end of one of the Underground lines, about 10 minutes from the City center--easy to get to and from anywhere in Vienna, including the trainstations and the airport. Vienna's public transport is great--invest in a travel pass. We were only there for 4 days, but invested 12 euros in a weeklong pass (about the same place as a 3 day pass--go figure).
In summary, a great place to stay in an incredible city--a great value!
