"Great Parisian Hotel!"
My friend and I took a sidetrip to Paris while staying in England for a bit during spring break. We were looking for a hotel that would be affordable, clean, and have a great view. The Hotel Avenir was exactly what we needed!
When we checked in, the electricity was out in that particular area of town. We were given our room key, and we had to walk up several flights of stairs. The room was tiny with two twin beds, but it served its purpose. We requested a room "en suite"--meaning that it had a private bathroom. The bathroom was also tiny, but it was clean.
We had a balcony that overlooked the Sacre Couer cathedral. The view was perfect. Our only complaint would have been the construction on the street outside, but the hotel couldn't help that.
A delivered breakfast came with our room. It was delicious! We had a crescent roll, breakfast roll, jam, and hot chocolate.
One of the odd things about the hotel was that we had to drop our key off at the desk anytime we left, but this was okay with us. We were not far from the Metro in Montmartre. It was easy to travel around the city.
The hotel staff were friendly, although there was a bit of a language barrier. My mother called on a few occasions, but they were unable to transfer her to my room due to misunderstandings.
I would definitely stay here again. However, don't come to Paris expecting an American style hotel. They are very rough around the edges. It was still excellent, though.
