PROPERTY AMENITIES

* The Salgari Restaurant, which takes its name from the famous novelist from Verona, treats food with a loving care that is uniquely Veronese. The traditional local cuisine has much to offer: duck and pheasant in a peppery Peverada sauce, rough extruded pasta called bigoli, potato gnocchi, "drunken" cheese or smoked ricotta, all accompanied by a rich selection of the finest wines of the region.

* After a meeting or before an evening performance at Verona's world-famous Arena, allow yourself a relaxing moment in the ample spaces of the Le Opere American Bar. Whether with a cocktail or a sampling of fine pastries, your respite will be sweet.

* For your business meetings the Leon d'Oro has something unique to offer: two different spaces for your business. Two styles, two typologies of meeting hall, both of them sharing the highest standards of comfort, design and technology. A double guarantee of success for congresses, conferences and business meetings. On the ground floor are the largest rooms of the Meeting Centre: the Mascagni Hall, a lovely space that can host up to 300 people, ideal for congresses and conferences with a large number of participants, and the Ponchielli Room, richly and elegantly decorated with a capacity of up to 90 people, divisible into two separate rooms. Here one breathes a rarefied air of classic style, perfect for prestigious, large-scale congresses. Between these two rooms is an ample space that can be used both for coffee breaks and for a dedicated check-in area.

ROOM AMENITIES

* The B4 Verona Leon d'Oro by Boscolo offers its guests a selection of 206 generous rooms, all in the same rich and elegant style that characterises the entire hotel. You can choose between Classic and Deluxe, depending on your spatial needs.

"Just gets better and better!"
We have now stayed several times in this hotel and it just gets better and better. It is as much part of the Opera experience as the event itself. The pre opera buffet is a wonderful way to start the evening although the mini bus can be rather oversubscribed. If you are able, walk to the Arena, it's flat all the way and road crossings are well marked. Staff at the Hotel are without fail helpful and multi lingual and can organise taxis to all parts of the city. Breakfast is a joy and is served late on the mornings after the opera. Already looking forward to 2006 Opera and Hotel!

Easy walking distance to arena
We stayed at the hotel between 23rd - 25th August 06. Taxi transfer from airport to hotel cost 21 Euro and took about 15 minutes although the hotel quoted us 35 Euros if they arranged for us. Nice easy book in and friendly staff who spoke good english. Room was the classic hotel room with a really nice bed and linen with a great marble bathroom with double sinks. Nice comfortable stay. Nice breakfast which cost 10 Euros each. It took about 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the main centre where the Arena is. Unfortunately the walk involves a walk through a pedestrian subway under the railway bridge which is dark, heavily graffiti'd and smells of urine. There is a very efficient taxi service for those who don't want to walk. Our stay was very pleasant and we would go back although we would probably pay more and stay nearer the arena.. we did find a lovely hotel right next to main market square and close to some fine restaurants but the Leon D'Oro was more than adequate for our use.

"Grear place!"
We stayed there when we visited Verona for the opera (Aida). It was by far the cheapest four star place in town. Although it is a little out of the center, it is a magnificent place to stay with nicely furnished rooms and great service. The breakfast was especially nice. Also there is a bus shutlle running every 20 minutes or so. For the money we payed (around 100 Euro) it was a great bargain. We will definitely come back next time we visit Verona during the opera season.

"Good experience at this "conference-style" hotel"
This hotel is similar to other large Chicago style conference hotels... numerous meeting rooms and large lobby area with somewhat grand/gaudy (depending on your tastes) common areas. We didn't plan to visit Verona but found ourselves there without a plan and so we stopped at the first decent looking hotel off the main road. Positives: We didn't have a reservation and it was late... they took care of us right away and for a very decent rate. I believe that if they had a business event then it might have been a very different story. The room and bathroom was quite sizable but average. I'm not sure why the other reviewer had a problem with heating but we found the thermostat clearly on the wall next to the bathroom door, which we set at a high 30C (we like it hot). Breakfast was quite good since they seem to cater to a more diverse crowd (European and Middle Eastern fare). The best part for me was the helpfullness of the front desk. They were able to get us taxis, restaurant bookings, and help us to the hospital. I am really greatful for their help in that matter. It was 5AM and my bf had a high fever. I was going to drive but they insisted on getting us a taxi and also instructed the driver on where to take us since we didn't speak any Italian. The taxi drivers seem well acquanted with the hotel (all knew the only back route that approaches the hotel correctly). Also, they had parking for 11 Euro/day onsite. Negatives: For any vacation traveller, I can see that a business event could easily overwhelm the hotel. The hotel is south of Verona's gates whereas all the sites are on the northside, so the location is rather lacking. Due to the nature of the roads, taxis had to circle around a bit to get to the hotel so maybe an extra Euro for that inconvenience. Overall, I would pick a hotel closer to the sites on my next visit but I really did have a great experience here.
