"Great hotel, convenient location!"
Stayed at the Baan Suhkothai in January this year. Before we went, i had read several negative reviews on this website, which made me worry about what was instore.
When we arrived, we had nothing but pleasant, helpful and happy service.
Our standard room was situated in the two storey wing at the back of the hotel. It was large in size, well set out, always clean and had a private balcony overlooking the hotel and pool.
Pool is situated centrally within the resort, has plenty of sunlounges around and has two small sitting areas / kids pools.
Breakfast has a good range of foods, including omelettes, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries and local dishes such as rice and noodles.
Suhkothai Spa is definately worth a visit! It is beautiful on the inside decorated in traditional Thai furnishings and offering a range of wonderful treatments.
Location of the hotel is central to everything, very close to shops, restaurants and night life.
Slight noise from the night clubs can be heard at times, but it is quite distant and wont keep you up at night!
If you are looking for a budget hotel, with central location the Baan Suhkothai is definately worth a look at! |

"Pleasantly suprised."
I too had read a lot of negative feeback regarding the Baan Sukhotahi, and even went as far as to try and change our accomodation... so upon arrival checked into the hotel with a feeling of trepidation. However to my suprise, we were greeted with smiles and a welcome drink and had our accomodation upgraded for the night (due to over-allocation of standard rooms).
I found the rooms (standard at the very least) to be clean, spacious and more then adequate. Having stayed in each of the different grades of accomodation (Standard, Deluxe and the Waterhouse Villa) I found the standard to be the best value, with Deluxe not offering that much more for the additonal money.
I also noted a lot of negative comments regarding it's location (noise etc. etc.), but I think the central locality to everything (markets, shops, restaurants, bars) far outweighs any negative impact. I think it'd be difficult to find any centrally located hotel (in Patong) which wasn't exposed to the busy nightlife. Besides that, the hotel pool was on the smaller side, but still offering a nice area to relax and swim. Breakfast was reasonable too.
My only negative points would be that some of the double rooms were made up of two single matresses on a double base. Oh and there was no sports channel provided!

"Absolutely Loved it!"
I am from Sydney, Australia and booked my holiday thru the local Travel Agent, I let the lady I was staying with a couple of mates, wanted to be close to the beach, close to the night life, HAD to have Air Con and a pool and she came up with this.
Enjoyed every bit about it, except for all the old european dudes in their budgie smugglers who sat by the pool every day!! eww!
Was awesome stumbling home for only 3 mins to get to our room in the early hours of the morning, the hotel was above average, we stayed in a deluxe room and it was nice, the maids kept the place very clean every day and we didnt have any loud or rude neighbours, we were probably the loudest people there.
I definitely recommend the baan sukhouthai if you're young, want to be close to the action and dont mind the silent thud of dance music in the background, I find it soothing personaly :)
