"Lovely Hotel"
Stayed at the Banff International for 2 weeks over the Xmas period and enjoyed it immensely. Our room was spacious, clean, very quiet and had a view of the mountains. I agree that some rooms looked out over the supermarket but this is not a beach hotel, it is in the centre of town, extremely convenient for buses, shops and entertainment! The reception staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were very friendly. A problem with the hairdrier in our room was sorted straight away. We only ate in the restaurant a couple of times and although they weren't the best of meals the choice of other eating places on your doorstep is huge. A fantastic holiday, Banff and the area is everything you could wish for. We will definitely return and stay at the same hotel.

"Best holiday ever!"
I got back from Banff yesterday after my boyfriend and I spent ten days in the Banff International Hotel. This holiday was the best holiday I have ever had and the hotel was one of the nicest I have stayed in.
First impression as you walk in, was a large, spacious, warm looking lobby, with a restaurant and a bar. We only went in the restaurant at breakfast time (only for some mornings), as it was fairly expensive. The food however was perfect and you had plenty of choice. It was usually quiet too so the service was quick.
The room was a standard room and was very clean and spacious, the bathroom was also very bright and clean. We had two queen beds, table and 2 chairs, coffee maker, hairdryer, cable TV with Nintendo which you had to pay for and in house movies, also at extra cost. The rooms were cleaned daily and promptly (we went down for breakfast one day and within the half hour we were gone the room had been tidied!)
The bad points of the room were :- the two queen beds we had didn't even look the size of a double bed, so wasn't overly impressed with that. The view from the room was just of rooms opposite, abit like a courtyard, so we had to keep the curtains shut. Not too bothered about that as we were out skiing most of the day anyway. Also there was no fridge so we had to line up cold food and drinks along the windowsill and keep the window open all the time. Other than that I was happy with the room overall and I am quite picky on where I stay. You also got your own ski lockers that were in the basement so you didn't have to keep carrying them upto your room.
The ski bus stopped just outside the hotel next door, so that was handy. However that was the last pickup place so the bus was pretty much full. They did send extra buses though if there were no seats left. The hotel is right in the centre of town so everything is just a short walk away.
There are loads of tours to do in and around the Banff area if you want a day off from skiing. Trips to lake louise, ice canyons, day trips to Calgary and husky sledding are just a few. Plus the skiing is the best I've experienced!
The town in itself is the nicest looking and friendliest place I have ever been to. Theres loads of small gift shops, a mall, a cinema and a huge choice of restaurants. The locals are extremely friendly and helpful.
The only problem is the train that passes through Banff has to blow its horn every time it comes through town, which during the night can be frustrating.
Other than that we absolutely loved the whole holiday and are booking the same again for next year.
