"has a beautiful decor"
Marriott Resort & Spa Bangkok has a beautiful decor, lovely pool area, lovely bedrooms, lovely staff, lovely restaurants - the food at the Thai Night which was a buffet had every kind of food available and was all wonderfully presented.

"Marriott Resort & Spa Bangkok has a great location"
Marriott Resort & Spa Bangkok has a great location, 10 minutes by boat from the craziness of downtown bakgkok. we chose this hotel mainly because of the charming boat ride, and it was wonderful and relaxing to start our day every morning with a boat ride along the river. |

"Despite of remote location one of the best hotels in BKK"
I have stayed in Marriott Resort & Spa several times during my travels to Bangkok. Despite of its seemingly remote location the other aspects of the hotel overweight.
The hotel is located by Chao Prya river - a prime spot eventhough it is some 3 km away from e.g. Oriental Hotel. But you do not need a taxi from the hotel since they provide a river boat to the Bangkok side (the hotel is actually located at Thonbury side of the City).
The river boat connects hotel in about 15 mins to the BTS station (Saphan Taksin next to Shangri-La hotel) -from where you have easy access by Sky Train to shopping and business centre - or river boat to China Town, Wat Arun, Wat Po, Grand Palace, or any other place by the river. The boat ride to and from the hotel is a scening ride along Chao Prya - and an excellent opportunity to relax having experienced the hustle and bustle of central Bangkok. The central business district at Erawan and the more "touristic" area at Silom Road are just some 15 mins away from the peer at Saphan Taksin. Backpackers mecca Khao San Road with its rather good restaurants are acessible by river boat in some 20 mins.
The pool in Marriott Resort is the best in Bangkok. Believe me: I have stayed in nearly all the central BKK hotels. The pool opening times are long (it used to be open 24h but they have now limited it). It's still open until around midnight.

"Tropical Paradise"
I stayed here on 2 occasions (the beginning and end of my trip) in Jan 06 and loved this hotel. The setting is equal to some of the best resorts in Hawaii and Aruba. You'd hardly know you were in a city, and yet the shuttle boat makes it possible to be in the thick of things in 15 minutes (25 if you include taking the skytrain). The breakfast here was the best I had on my entire trip (5 hotels) and I loved being able to eat outside.
I also had a thai massage in the spa - there are probably cheaper options, but the service here was excellent. My only complaint was that there weren't enough pool chairs and over half were being held with a towel. They brought me a lounge cushion and set it on the ground under a tree - not a bad fix, but not the same as a lounge chair by the pool.

"Fantastic Spot!"
My husband and I spent three nights here and found the facilities, room and service to be sensational. The food was excellent, the staff extremely friendly. We found that taking the boat to the skytrain was a great way to travel and a real treat at the end of a hot day in Bangkok. The resort is a total oasis in the heart of a hot, dirty city. This was our first trip to Bangkok and we would not hesitate to return to this resort.
