"Wonderful hotel...............bankok a little scary to start with"
Stayed here in october 2006. The hotel is fantastic although Bankok itself is very scary to begin with.....I just felt a bit nervous of all the traffic. But after a couple of hours you become used to it. The hotel was fantastic with our own robes and slippers and a seperate office/relaxing area. We were offered about 4 different pillows to chose from! The staff were terrific and the views from the hotel bedroom were breathtaking. We felt a little isolated, so we travelled to the kho san road area where we met a lot of backpackers. It seems that all the work stops at this road for a rest and a spa or massage/drink. We visited the "dodgier" parts of Bankok too. But this was just as anyone might imagine, very tacky and sad.Had dinner in the vertigo resturant in the Banyan tree..............wow! amazing views we will never forget! Couldnt imagine a finer hotel. Loved it

"Amazing views, amazing stay - we loved it."
Awesome hotel. From the choice of 5 pillows when you check in in your suite (go for club floor) to the most incredible Spa (have it to get rid of jetlag when you land) this hotel was brilliant. Vertigo on the roof amazing for drinks (perhaps eat at Celadon at Sukhothai next door) or walk 5 mins to night market and eat there while shopping. Room was a little small for a suite but perfectly formed and full of great amenities. Staff were all great. Location OK - only a 15min taxi to Grand Palace. Views amazing day and night - you really are on top of the world. Pool nice and quiet. Gym good. This was a highlight of our honeymoon. Recommended.

"Good Hotel"
We stayed here last summer and it was a good hotel. Very comfortable room. The car service from the airport was outrageous and you would be advised to save your dollars for the hotel bar (freaky views down the side of the building) and order a regular taxi (or alternate transport) from the airport. The roof top bar was fun for drinks. Dinner at the alfesco roof restaurant was also a fun experience - I could not beleive how still it was 60 odd floors above the city. The real star at this hotel for us was the clubroom lounge. Every night the food offerings showcase a different restauarnt in the hotel. This was a great way to sample food from all of the different menus without having to commit to eating at any of them - it was well worth the extra cost.
This hotel was within walking distance to the night market - which is a fantastic time. Think giant outdoor beer garden (with really fun beer dispensers) /food court with Thai popstars providing entertainment and shopping galore.

"What a GREAT hotel and SPA!"
We were completely inpressed with the Banyan Tree (Originally a Westin Hotel property) We had breakfast every day in Rom Sai with even more exciting dining in Vertigo, the best views on Bangkok at 61 floors on top of the hotel. The staff exceeded our expectations, even anticipated our every need. I liked taking baths in my room with frangiapani flowers and the staff ensured that fresh frangiapani flowers were available every day without even asking for them. This was the first hotel that we have stayed in Bangkok that truly was central to all of our activites. The concierge was very knowledgeable as well, provided a full day of activities to ensure we saw everything we wanted. The spa is incredible! We had read that this is one of the yop 10 spa hotels in Bangkok and know we know why. The pool sits 20 floors up with great views of the city and the masseurs were excellent providing anything from reflexology to thai massage and beyond. We would definitely stay at the Bayan Tree again in the future.

"Great Spa and Nice rooms"
I just returned from staying a few nights at the Banyan Tree in Bangkok. When i first entered into the lobby, i thought it was like any other city hotel - about average. However, as we were walking towards the elevator the aroma therapy oils throughout were very relaxing. Once we arrived to the floor of our room, i could see why this place was so highly ranked. There are very beautiful flowers and once again the nice aromatherapy oils that make the hallways smell so nicely.
We stayed in a regular room and it totally surpassed all my expectations. The room is a real suite w/ a living room and bedroom. Both of which are a very nice size and decorated nicely. The bathroom is huge and sooo nice.
The gym is good, new equipment w/ personal tv's at each treadmill.
The spa was by far the highlight of the hotel. I can now understand why the banyan tree spa is so highly rated. I had a facial and body conditioning and it was worth every penny. The way the therapist performs her treatments was just amazing. If you stay here, you must go to the Spa. It would be such a waste to not go.
The only drawback is the location. Not exactly a lot to do around that area nor would i want to walk around that area.

"Too Relaxed To Go Out!"
In May this year, we popped over to Bangkok from Hong Kong for chill out weekend.
I know this sounds sad (and we have been to Bangkok many times to see all the sights already) but we were so relaxed at the hotel, we did not go out except on one night!
The BT's Vertigo Restaurant, an entirely open air affair was lovely. However if you are afraid of heights, remember to wear flat shoes! There are several steep steps to climb before you are sat down at the table. It was very windy that night so tie that hair back! Due to the wind, I struggled with the enormous menus (far too large) that weighed a tonne. Overall, the view was wonderful that night and so was the food. A nice touch was the complimentary photo and chocolates each guest was given to take home. Give it a go! And splurge on the good vino while you're at it.
The suite was devine, as was the fun 'bath menu' listing various options such as the mud bath......or something less messy if one so desires. Candles are placed around the tub, and you can splash around with a try of chocolates and a cocktail! Indulgent and maybe a bit over the top but hey, you deserve it, don't you?
Loved the pool. Beautiful ambience with the odd fountain here and there, but be quick as it was popular the day we were there.....
The Spa was the highlight. I am usually the most stressed out, high strung and nervous insomniac to roam the earth but even I, will all my tensions, slowly drifted off in the massage parlour. Not to be missed is the gentle Lomi-Lomi massage. Bliss!
Finally, drag yourself out of the hotel to the Sirocco Restaurant, on top of the State Tower. Glam it up in your high heels and feel like a Princess when you swan down the stairs and strike a pose at the amazing sky bar. Once again, if you don't like heights.......better pass as you are 64 stories up and wow, what a view! I loved the jazz band and vocals in the background. Just gorgeous. I must say even, probably one of my fave dining experiences if not just for the atmosphere anywhere in the world. Unmissable.
All in all, I look back with fond memories......and no regrets we were nothing but hotel slugs for three days!

"Heavenly Retreat"
Try as I might I can't think of anything that wasn't perfect about this hotel.
We had the hotel limo service from the airport - a bit of luxury after an 11.5hr flight was just what we needed. On arrival we were greeted personally by the Duty Manager and whisked to our Club Room for in-suite registration, offered a welcome drink, a choice of pillows and spa scrubs for use during our stay. We dined in the Saffron restaurant which has a great view of the city, and sipped cocktails at The Moon Bar - open air bar on the roof of the hotel, which should not to be missed. The breakfast buffet in Saffron was a stunning array of exotic fruits, breads, pastries, cheeses, cold meats & fish, hot food and authentic Asian dishes. I was ill prior to travelling to Bangkok and my conditioned deteriorated during my stay but the Hotel staff were wonderful, they arranged for a limo to transport me to hospital, the front desk staff rang ahead to the Hospital which meant I saw an English speaking Doctor, and was diagnosed and treated quickly. On my return to the hotel, a beautiful flower arrangement and Get Well card from the management had been placed in my room. The Club Lounge was a welcome retreat from the hetic streets of Bangkok, again great views, and the snacks change to reflect the time of day you visit the lounge, i.e scones/jam/cream etc in the afternoon, cheese/biscuits/canapes in the evening. We used the complimentary laundry service - collected in the morning and delivered back to our room the same day. At turn down each night a small gift was placed on our bed - a nice touch not often found in large hotels. The attention to detail and the hospitality of the staff ensured our stay was perfect, would highly recommed this hotel to other visitors to Bangkok - especially the Club Room level. Enjoy!
