"Loved This 4* Hotel, Seemed like a 5*"
My boyfriend took me to this hotel for my birthday last year and it was really very impressive. We flew to Edinburgh from London and had a fantastic weekend. The hotel room was really huge - it was one of the penthouse corner rooms - and perfectly cleaned every day and well furnished. And a great location. It was a great surprise to find the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna downstairs as it was very nice. We had a lovely dinner one of the nights in the restaurant which was nice and posh, andthe live pianist made it excellent. Edinburgh was very romantic, I really enjoyed wandering through the hills and cliffs, eating cream scones in cafes' picturesque gardens and touring the history of the area - not to mention shopping. I think this hotel is more like a 5* instead of a 4*, and I was really really impressed.

"Great Location, Bargain Price"
Me and my fiancee stayed here just before Christmas last year. We got discounted rate through laterooms for £70.00 per night. Hotel is a bargain for this price, it has a lovely lobby, the room was clean with a lovely bathroom and had good views. Only a 5 minute walk from the main streets/train station/Princess Gardens. If you're staying here, give the hote breakfast a miss - the pub just up the hill on the corner (think it's called Bank Chambers) does a brilliant full scottish breakfast for just shy of £5. All in all, a nice hotel for a nice price.

"Fabulous!"
We only stayed here for one night, but it was excellent from start to finish. It is located just off the Royal Mile and we expected noise but although our room faced onto the main road, the windows were secondary double glazed so we were unaffected. The public areas were spectacular; fresh, modern and clean, and the bedrooms were also of a high standard, blending modern fixtures (the bathroom in particular) with the traditional elements of an old hotel. The room was reasonably priced given the excellent quality of the accomodation and the time of year (middle of the Edinburgh festival). We didn't have breakfast but it smelled amazing! The only thing which came up was that we had pre ordered a bottle of champagne to be in our room on arrival. it wasn't there but the problem was rectified immediately we spoke to Reception. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the service was exactly what you'd expect for a top end hotel. I will definitley be back!

"Great location!"
We booked the Carlton through bidding on Priceline and got a great price - £45 a night which was fantastic given that the trip was during the Easter school holidays. The location of the hotel is excellent, it is right in the centre. The rooms were spacious and quite nice, they did need updating a little, but we were under the impression that this is a 3* hotel anyway (some reviewers seem to think it was 4*) and found them to be nice enough. The maids came in every day whilst we were there and left the room spotless and staff on the front desk were very helpful too. I couldn't comment on the hotel restaurant as we didn't use it being room only, but there are plenty of restaurants and cafes right outside the hotel so it was not a problem at all. I can see that some people may be disappointed with this hotel if they paid full price (tariffs were shown in the foyer at £200 a night, if you are willing to pay this much I would probably choose to stay in the Radisson opposite instead) but if you manage to get a good deal it is an excellent choice.

"Very enjoyable"
Hi All, I booked this hotel and then looked at the reviews and was very unimpressed so I contacted the hotel about this saying I was worried that the hotel has ben given bad reviews, I was asured that this was noted and when I arrived they would ensure that we received a proper double bed. On arrival they had no note of this and put us into a twin room, I explained that I had contacted them about this and the staff could not have been more helpful and showed us 4 rooms until we found a double room. I was very pleased with the way we were treated the room that we did get was clean and lovely. I would definatley go back to this hotel. The location is great and everything was lovely. Thanks.
