"Second brilliant holiday here"
We returned here this year after booking within a week of coming home last year. We were not disappointed and will be returning again next year - and we are a family that has never returned to the same place for a holiday before! But after a bad experience on one holiday this place is so good we can't see the point of going somewhere else!
We were in room 2144 again (I emailed twice to request this room and we were over the moon to get it). We had a complementary bowl of fruit, which we think was for returning and a nice touch. Our cleaner/maid was fantastic again and we had no fault with her although we did hear other people grumbling about there maid. We immediately went all inclusive which was well worth it with an 8 year old child. The food in the restaurant we found better this year with more choice including a specialist mexican night and chinese night. You really can't fault the food - unless you eat processed rubbish! The animation team work really really hard and provide a lot the of the evening entertainment as well as the daytime activities. The evening entertainment wasn't always great but a lot of effort was put in and we just enjoyed sitting outside and having a drink.
I can't say any more really - great resort, great hotel and plenty of activities if you want (deep sea fishing, sandcastle schools, sea lion training and such things all to hand) or peace and quiet by the pool or on the beach if you want. There are a few cockcroaches around but not as many as last year and none in our apartment again as we were on the first floor. The paths and all areas are cleaned on a daily basis anyway, and part of our 'holiday fun' was my husband scaring the life our of our daughter with cockroach spotting on the way back to our apartment each evening!
All in all thoroughly recommended for a great family atmosphere holiday that isn't 'Blackpool' abroad. Lots of Spanish, Dutch, German and Italians to listen to whilst sunbathing and daydreaming! Great!

"Another great holiday on this wonderful island"
This was our sixth visit to Caleta de Fuste. Previous visits have found us at the Castillo Beach Park, the Elba Sara Hotel, but predominantly the Barcelo Fuerteventura Hotel.
We felt the need for a bit more space (and a cheaper price) and so plumped for the Barcelo Club this year. We weren’t disappointed.
We had read mixed opinions about the Barcelo Club online in the months before our stay and due to this we contacted them by e-mail beforehand to ask if we could have a quiet room, preferably first floor, in block 3000. Block 3000 is the one nearest the Barcelo Hotel.
We were e-mailed back, promptly, to say that this would be no problem, but at an extra cost of 12 euros per night. We agreed to this as we knew the rooms had been recently refurbished and had air con.
On arrival (noon) our room was ready but was one heck of a hike from reception and the main plaza with all the amenities. This is one big complex! Reception did warn us that block 3000 was usually taken by an Italian tour company and so there would be a lack of Brits about. We took our chances and were really pleased with our room. Nicely decorated, well furnished, clean & tidy and with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. We had chosen to go half board, but there was the option at any time to upgrade further to all inclusive for a further 15 euros each. We decided not to do this as we like to get out and about during the evenings and don’t want to be stuck to the complex.
As I said our room was fine. Maid service was 5 times a week, but whilst they were ok, they could have been a bit more thorough perhaps. For instance, our balcony wasn’t swept or mopped once in 14 days, and they didn’t seem to bother much with cleaning the bathroom. We’re not dirty, messy people though and generally we had no complaints. Despite being on the first floor we had visits from 3 cockroaches during the fortnight, but hey, it’s a volcanic island, it’s where they live! A quick blast from the complimentary spray under the sink soon sorted them out.
So, what was it like being in amongst the hoards of Italians? Well, round the pool it was difficult to find any peace and quiet. They do tend to talk a lot! Most sunbeds had been reserved by 9.30 also. The complex has 3 pools in total, so we just headed off to the one in the middle, behind the La Perlita bar, and never had any problems with sunbeds or peace and quiet. The other large pool, near reception/la plaza did seem to be very busy and noisy too, this time mostly from the British/Irish/German guests. We had Italian neighbours next door, but they were generally quiet and observed the no noise after midnight rules.
As I said earlier we were half board. The restaurant was fine. No problem finding a table or with the service from the staff. The food was typical buffet restaurant fayre. Plenty of choice, but after a week or so one did feel it got a bit repetitive.
The complex itself is well maintained, and all staff are friendly and helpful. We had no complaints whatsoever.
