"Excellent tourist aparthotel."
I have read some of the reviews of the Barcelo La Galea and have to say that some opinions are very unfair.
We have stayed at the hotel for the past 2 holidays(with 3 young kids).
We have always found the staff to be communitive and helpful.
The rooms are as you would expect but TOTALLY adequate for a family holiday.
The restaurent is really good - a great value buffet option with a nice selection most evenings. The waiters come around in the evening to sell you drinks of course, but they are the 'normal' prices and not the over inflated prices that some other hotels may try to charge you for a drink with your evening meal.
Obviously, the Spanish have yet to master the bacon/sausage on the breakfast menu - but lets face it, the rest of Spain is the same. They dont reallly 'do' fried breakfasts, so, even tho' your fry up may not be to UK standards, at least they give it a go. Still, you have a vast choice of other food to choose from should you not want the rashers.
We always book direct, saving approx 30% on the brochure price, then we get our flights seperately.
All things considered, the La Galea is basically FAULTLESS for a family hoiliday, it's near to the beach, the accommodation is good, the staff are courteous and helpful, it's close to all that Costa Teguise has to offer and has everything else(eg car hire, shops) on the doorstep - I can add no more.

"Great hotel"
I stayed in an apartment on a half board basis with my boyfriend. This hotel was great. It was very central, just round the corner from all the bars, shops and restaurants, and the back door went almost straight onto the beach. There were loads of supermarkets very close by, where you could buy food if you wanted, as we had a kitchen in our apartment, although I'm not sure all the studios there do. Some people have complained about the noise from the bars, at night if I listened very carefully I could hear very faint music coming from one of the bars, but it did not bother me and I am a very light sleeper.
The food was OK, I couldn't eat much of it as I have alot of allergies, but my boyfriend like it and there was always quite a few different dishes. Although they were all very similar each night; chips, fish, pasta, some types of vegetables, some sort of meat and garlic bread most night. They also had choices of cold meats and salads, and breads and cheese. The food wasn't labeled that well, so it may have been difficult for vegetarians to decide what they could and couldn't eat. Breakfast was good, there was alot of selection here, full english, continental, pasteries, bread, they even had a diet corner which I thought was good, with skimmed milk, granary bread, sugar free jams etc. They had a toaster and a microwave so you could heat up anything that was't that hot. I think being all inclusive looked good as throughout the day you could help yourself to drinks, ice creams, cakes etc, and it wouldn't have been that much more expensive than half board.
The hotel itself was very clean. Our apartment was cleaned 5 days out of 7, and you could have clean towels everyday if you wanted. Every morning there were people cleaning the pool area so this never got dirty. The apartment had everything you needed; frige, oven, hobs, kettle, toaster, huge bedroom with massive wardrobe, tv, bathroom, with bath and shower, dining table and sofas and a balcony with table and chairs. We had a sea view from our balcony, and it seemed like most of the rooms either had a sea view, or pool view. Our bacony was in the sun all day so you could sunbathe out there if you didn't want to leave the apartment.
There were 3 pools here with lots of sunbeds around them, never a problem getting sunbeds whatever time you went down to the pool, and very few people reserved them with towels as the hotel has a policy that you aren't allowed to. 2 of the pools were freezing,a lthough some people did brave them on occasion. The other pool was heated, well they said it was heated, it was slightlly warmer than the others, but by no means warm. However on hot days it was nice to cool off in here and once you got in it wasn't that bad! It was also nice sitting by the pool as the hotel is quite sheltered from the wind, so while on the beach you feel quite cold in the wind by the pool you don't have this problem.
The staff at the hotel were all really friendly. The entertainment team were great! I never thought I would write that as generally on holidays I try to avoid hotel entertainment as it's not really my thing. However they convinced me to join in with a few games, they were free and the winners were always given a cocktail, or a bottle of wine. Although the entertainment staff would come up to you around the pool and ask you to take part in various games, if you really didn't want to they would leave you alone.
You have to check out by noon, but if your flight isn't untill later then they have a luggage room where you can keep your stuff and you can also book a courtesy room for 30 minutes before your pick up, free of charge. They provide you with a disused apartment, shower gel and towels so you can have a shower before you leave.
This hotel really was great, and for a 3* hotel it seems much better than similar ones in the same area. I would definately come back here and would recomend it to anyone.

"We Loved it!"
We,ve just returned from 2 weeks out in the Costa Teguise resort of Lanzarote and loved it! We read some of the reviews of the hotel before we went and we were a little nervous as some sounded very negative but we all had a lovely relaxing two week holiday and would be happy to return again!
The room was standard, clean and overlooked the sea so had beautiful views - a bit windy at times but hey, so what!
The hotel grounds - were kept perfectly tidy and beautiful looking very impressed.
The entertainment - what we saw was of hotel calibre but we didn't really take part day or night as there is so much else to do and see around outside of the hotel.
swimming pool - was lovely to look at but very very cold even though one was heated it didn't bother the kids though just us old morsels and we all prefer the beach anyway.
The beach - is literally right on the doorstop down the stairs and you're there beautiful stretch of beach.
bars and restaurants - in abundance! all within walking distance and are there for you morning noon and night.
Recommendations - La Allogia/Tiananmen restaurant - always empty and it shouldn't of been it has wonderful friendly staff and the most amazing steaks if you like steak you cannot visit the Island and not eat steak here. Gorgeous!!!!!
The Sand Castle a bar/restaurant just outside the hotel - run by a lovely couple Wayne and Tracy from leeds they have two lovely children - a very friendly and warm place to go. our kids loved it there and would of spent the whole two weeks there given the choice eating ice cream sundaes! Good food and good company
The grand Island tour - was a must do!
What would i do differently if we went again?
Use the local taxi and bus service and not rely on the travel company.
Take more jumpers the days are hot but the evenings are very cold
If i could fit it in my case some kind of wind break for the beach as very windy at times.
