"A real Venetian gem - would absolutely recommend"
A sympathetically converted 16th century convent, this hotel offers understated 5* accommodation with an unsurpassed view of the St Mark’s Square area of Venice on the opposite bank. Unlike the glitzy 5* establishments on the main island, this hotel retains a boutique feel and is a perfect place to stay if you prefer to be away from the crowds. We stayed in August 07 and were delighted with the accommodation. Taking breakfast in the beautiful, peaceful courtyard garden was the perfect way to start the day. All the staff throughout the hotel are friendly and attentive and extremely helpful. The hotel's shuttle boat to the main part of Venice is convenient and the absence of it between 2 and 5 and 9-9.30pm did not prove a problem. A small criticism would be that the hot breakfast options were more limited than you would expect from a hotel of this ilk (just scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, with no boiled egg or omelette choices which you would normally expect) although the cold buffet offered wide choice and was excellent. The evening restaurant menu appeared limited for a 5* hotel, although you do have the option of the wonderful Cipriani restaurant a 2min walk away, and the restaurant at the new Stucky Hilton Hotel, approx 10 mins walk, also looked extremely inviting. My only disappointment during the stay was the prices at the spa, which in my opinion were too high; had they been 25% less I would definitely have taken advantage of this facility, so, unless you can justify 220 euros for a facial I would not suggest booking specifically for a spa break. Overall though, we were very pleased with our choice of hotel and will definitely be returning.

"Close to perfect in Venice!"
A friend and I just returned from 4 nights at the Palladio. It more than lived up to our expectations. Unlike another recent guest, I thought the breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. There were also hooks in our bathroom, which he seemed to find missing. The decoration and ambiance at the hotel was perfect. The location was quiet, and the view of St. Marks from the island was the best in Venice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are reasonable restaurants on Guidecca as well. The Bauer Hotel, owned by the same company, was a great base to use during the day while on the Venice side, and they were very solicitous to Palladio guests. The boat ride over and back was a great way to start and end each day, and there is a very convenient public waterbus stop nearby. The welcoming glass of champagne at reception upon returning in the evening, was the perfect touch. Beds were quite comfortable, and linens and towels were of the highest quality.
A couple of small suggestions: a mirror in the bedroom would be perfect for when two people are trying to get ready at the same time, as the only mirrors were in the bathroom. Some free wireless internet access would be very thoughtful, even if it was in a public area downstairs. Otherwise it could be very expensive for guests to use the internet.
I will definitely be returning the the Bauer Palladio, and highly recommend it to others.

"Perfect Choice at the Bauer"
We are just back from a 4 night stay in the Bauer which we got a super deal on. It was A truly FAB hotel. It';s across the bay (lagoon) from St. Marks' Square and the hotel provides a free shuttle service to their sister hotel on the mainland. All the staff were excellent, very bright & friendly, especially the staff on reception who arranged a special trip for us on the 1st morning and gave us lots of options to do things & booked restaurants that they recommended that were not very expensive. Our room was serviced twice a day with a turn down service in the evening time, very clean, excellent bathroom facilities & a magnicient view from Room 225. We were overlooking the entire lagoon of Venice right on to St. Mark's Square, we could just look out the window anytime & what the world go by, there was sooo much going on. There is also a bus stop (Zitelle) just outside the hotel which we used often that goes to many different areas & runs up to the early hours of the morning. The evening menu is very limited for a 5* and the Spa prices are very expensive also but that would be our only negative. It's out of the hustle & bustle of St. Mark's Square and main area of Venice but it's is very relaxing there, the walled garden for breakfast in the morning time is very peaceful & beautiful with a very good choice of food. We would definitely go back again.

"Fabulous, Elegant and Quiet"
Having just returned from traveling around Italy with 4 adults and 3 young children, this hotel was by far the nicest. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, at a great rate, and enjoyed every minute of it. Our rooms were upgraded to a suite and a mini-suite. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is beautifully renovated, set on a quiet island away from all the hustle and bustle of the center of town. The one drawback is that you need to get across the large bay to get anywhere. However, the complimentary shuttle boat was quick and comfortable. (except when it doesn't run, from about 2 to 5 PM). We were so busy seeing the city that we never got to the newly opened spa, but other than that, I have no regrets. Would definetely return to this hotel and I recommend it highly.

"Very nice Hotel, simply fantastic"
We recommended this hotel, located in a excelent place, so close San Marcos and so quite.
When they open the SPA, next june, for sure, it will be one of more demanded hotels.
You can walk around, it is very nice to be far from crowed center.
The staff also is very kind and helpfully
The rooms are large, very clean and with a palace feeling.
The price/quality is excelent.

"Great Service & Quiet"
I thought the hotel took the extra steps in making our first visit to
Venice a memorable one. I had sent an email informing them our visit was for my daughters 18 birthday and they delivered (room service) a chocolate cake and drinks to us with a card from the management congratulating her (on the evening we arrived).
They walked us to our room and told us what the hotel had to offer and the services provided, times of restaurant hours & boat service to San Marcos.
The rest of the staff was incredible and we were greeted evertime we went to the restaurant. Even though I tried my Italian they helped out in English. I would go back anytime.
